Spraying...

Not sure if this is the right section of the forum to post in so sorry if not :(

Anyway, im wondering if an S10 respirator (type used by armed forces) is a good option for using with the dodgy paints that can knock you out, two pack and all that.

Cheers

I use a full face air fed mask, they are not cheap. But neither is my life.

I learned a valuable lesson many years ago spraying some home made wardrobes with a seal/lacquer. At that time I had never heard of solvent abuse and was spraying as I had with cellulose for many years and getting higher and higher from the atomised solvent in the air and applying a dodgier finish to what should have been a simple job..

Now I read the safety leaflets, turn up the air feed and the extractor fans.

Well aye, I have the S10 already and know it works having used it in some interesting conditions (CS gas), so im just wondering if anyone has ever used them with solvents, Im fairly certain that it will be fine, if its able to stop nerve agents and gas attacks it should be ok would be my guess...

I had this same conversation with my mum, she's a health and safety rep, it went something like this:

"Dear Mama, tell me If my homie calls, I'll be in the garage spraying these panels."

She said "I hope you'll be wearing a proper air fed mask playing around with that cellolose paint. I understand the Temptations of just wearing a standard mask but this stuff is dangerous and Call it what you want but I think your stupid not to wear the proper protection"

I said "Momma, I aint mad at cha, if I don't do it for you, I'll Do it for love and get a proper mask. After all if I end up dying because of something like this I have to ask myself 'How long will they mourn me?'"

Its not actually for me, he does have a compressor though, he bought all the kit just not the protective kit. I know S10 respirators are decent and can be got at a fair price.

Cheers for the offer though!!!
