Another new bike...

About 5 years ago my father-in-law and I bought a twin engined Pro-Kart for mucking about on at the local kart track - gave us loads of fun for about 3 years but then the track changed the arrangement for "owner-drivers" meaning very little track time for loads of sitting about so the kart got shoved to the back of the garage where it sat for the last 2 years. Got fed up looking at it so sold it via Gumtree a few weeks ago and made the suggestion that we should reinvest the funds into something we would get more use out of - like another motorbike :D

Between the two of us we already have an SV650, Bandit 1200, BSA C15, Hornet and my little GS125 - so we have small singles, a 2 cylinder and 4 cylinders - but what we don't have is a big single or an adventure type bike. Budget was set to a very low £1000 tops and we started looking initially for an old XR600 or similar but then this popped up for the right money - its had 18(!) owners but is really clean and considering its 21 years old only has 35k on the clock. £800 later we have this - I cant wait! :D

Its a 1994 BMW F650 Strada

Bloomin bargain id say. Big singles aren't my thing, but £800 isn't a lot of money

Quite the variety of bikes you've now got between you!

You coming to Southwold on the beemer now then?

How much work do you think it needs before it's properly road worthy? Good as is or needs a good going over?

Hoping to come to Southwold on it :D

Its getting 12 months MOT on Tuesday before it gets delivered from Bournemouth - so just a quick oil change, tax and insurance to sort out. I already have a multi-bike policy and to add this to it for 6 months is £21 lol

According to the seller the only thing "wrong" with it is it could do with a front tyre - but that's not the bikes fault :)

We have put 800 miles on this since the beginning of December - not bad going really - serves its purpose perfectly - my father-in-law is so in love with it he now wants to try a modern GS800 :D

Soooo it turns out that our bargain BMW has been massively clocked and its real mileage is closer to 70,000! Still it runs well and rides superb so we don't care really - for £800 I guess we couldn't expect much! Put more miles on this than any of our other bikes so I guess that says something!

In other news I have moved the Hornet on due to my dodgy elbow and replaced it with this :D Who buys a bike in October?! I loved it so much during a test ride I couldn't help myself lol
