Bolt upgrades???
Hi All,
Like most of us(I hope), I'm abit of tart with the bike and like this too look nice. However alot of the bolts all over the bike are abit tatty, either marked or starting to corode due to the great british weather. Now im sure they are perfectly serviceable but im thinking I may just upgrade them. Is there a list anywhere of bolts that I could maybe send to local fabricator? I've looked at pro bolts but it seems rather pricey and I'm not sure im all that fussed about colours as I've never had much luck with the colour lasting. Expirance, thoughts all welcome! |
Re: Bolt upgrades???
Until you get a better answer an old trick I've used on old tatty bolts is to use a Brass Wire Brush Drill attachment on them.It removes the corrosion and leaves a nice burnished finish. Then a dab of ACF50 or Clear-Nail-Varnish and they take a long time to corrode again usually. Then they are also quickly kept good.

Re: Bolt upgrades???
Might try that, see if i can get them abit more respectable.
Its part of a bigger issue my OCD kicks in and the various brackets and hangers are fustrating me as they dont look good. |

if you want shiny bolts then buy a bench polisher with the proper soap and polish them yourself. dont use anodised bolts, the cheep ones are just that and you will end up drilling the fekers out coz the heads are cheese. |
Re: Bolt upgrades???
I've never used the site but Chewy's does specific bolt sizes and engine/frame kits for the SV.
