Rear carb fuel leak curvy 2000
Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I'm hoping someone can help?!! I got my 650s out of the garage for the first time yesterday after it had been sat in there for a year!(I had a car accident and fractured my spine!) The battery was flat so I charged it overnight last night and put all back together this morning. She started on the button! Same as she always has!(don't know why I doubted that!!) but then I noticed a fuel leak from the rear carb. I lifted the tank and removed the air box so I could get a better view. After wiping down the dripping fuel I still can't see where it's coming from. Please help with any ideas as I don't like to see her poorly as she's my pride and joy!! Many thanks in advance |
Re: Rear carb fuel leak curvy 2000
Its not the petrol cap drain tube that's rusted through and that's leaking fuel. The end of the drain comes out by the right footrest
lift the cap and use a straw to blow down the drain tube, bubbles in the tank mean bad news. |

Thanks magic zap
I've done as you've just said and that is fine! I will go and take a pic to see if this will help my cause! |

Then its probably a gummed up carb after all that non use. Thats a better diagnosis than a rusted drain

Re: Rear carb fuel leak curvy 2000
might just be a sticky float needle not shutting off the fuel. give the offending carb bowl a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver and see how it goes. if tapping the float bowl helps then run some fuel system cleaner through to remove the gum.
