Sharper lens for my D3200
I am possibly looking for a replacement for my Tamron 70-300 and I want something that will produce sharper images but I don't know where to start.

Sharper lens for my D3200
What do you mean by sharper? Are your images out of focus?

Re: Sharper lens for my D3200
If you want crisp photos you generally need to use a Prime Lens, I have got a 50mm Prime lens for my Canon 600D and it gives some amazing images, but, obviously you're restricted on where you can stand.
This image was taken with my prime lens, but, I was stood quite a distance away; http://imgur.com/nE4gmGS Also, with a prime you can get a really low "f"-value, which gives lovely point focused images, but, the lower the "f" value the higher the cost of the lens usually. I have a 30mm to 75mm zoom lens as my standard lens on my Canon, but, I find this is never as "professional" looking in its ability to take photos; http://imgur.com/p14Qv6L This is a good article too; http://digital-photography-school.co...hich-are-best/ |
Re: Sharper lens for my D3200
Have you analysed how you are using your current lens when it producing images you are not happy with?
As said above, primes are great for that sharply focused image, the background blurring leaving the view the concentrate on the intended content. I have a Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens on my D5500, nice and sharp images. But I am still learning how to get the best out of the camera and kit lens |

Thanks Pete, maybe I'll back off the f/stops while at 300mm and see if the softness is lessend.

Re: Sharper lens for my D3200
All lenses have their sweet spot. There are also expensive lenses that are pretty cool. There are also good Tamron Lenses and bad Tamron Lenses.
But generally and the the far reaches of a 70-300 it will always be soft (Thats the technical term). Also learn the art of Spot Focus. The D3200 is limited on features, but with practice, you should be able to improve the quality of your shots. |
Re: Sharper lens for my D3200
Anyone have any thoughts on this lens?

Re: Sharper lens for my D3200
That looks a good lens. 1:1.8 is a good ratio, but, depends what you're taking photos of, 35mm is a very close focus
