Radicalspeed Rainsuit - good or ridiculous?

Hi guys,

I have recently been looking at rainproof oversuits as I'm now commuting most days on my bike and lets face it, it's been wet. My textiles are good and keep me mostly dry but they take ages to dry out.

I've seen various offerings from places on the net and the 'Alpinestars El Nino' seems to get good reviews, and then then I stumbled across this...

(crosses fingers and hopes link works!)

These rainsuits are about £115 so not exactly cheap, and they are made essentially for the track. However, they should be 100% waterproof (apart from the knee-slider holes) being made of rubber, and offer an alternative to bulky oversuits. I have been wearing my textiles because I don't like my leathers getting wet but I never feel comfortable 'pressing on' in my textiles in case of an off so I ideally want to wear my leathers without fear of getting soaked to the bone.

So, ridiculous or worth considering for wearing over leathers in the summer? Opinions please!

Cheers,
Matt

What he said, but they must be a nightmare to put on, ever been scuba diving?

If you get a bit of a leak then surly it'll just hold all the water in as well?

I wouldn't

"Nice bike, where'd you get it from?"
"Zed"
"Who's Zed?"
"Zed's dead baby.... Zed's dead"

I'm sorry pal. I just couldn't resist it.

Get thee to Hein Gericke (is that how you spell it?) And get the lined suit for £50, apparantly iffy reviews but I've done a few wet miles in mine and it's never let water in, infact ask El Saxo about our Welshpool AR with the Thundercat lot last year and about the torrential rain and the only part of me that got wet were my feet because I have normal summer boots on.

The best £50 I have ever spent

Haha! I thought it might get that sort of response!

To save face, it's not like I was about to press the 'buy' button, i just thought it was an interesting alternative to the bulkier suits I have seen elsewhere.

I will go and have a look at the one in Hein Gericke and if I don't like the look of that I think I'll get the A'stars El Nino - that's got really good reviews and came out top in a 'Ride' best buy thing against about 30 other suits so it must be pretty good.

Did you see the pictures of the dude in the luge suit on that website? Now that is scary....!

Cheers,
Matt

I've got a set of these, I ride in all weather, they've never let me down, cost about £40.

Considering that even in the simplest for drops waterproofs will be ruined then I wouldn't pay much more.

Indeed. I managed to hole the knees of mine just kneeling down to chain my bike up. I moved my knee sidewards ever so slightly with my weight on it and "rip"- nasty hole in the knee. :)
