Cleaning bugs off leathers

Hi All,

Recently I bought my first proper dainese leather jacket and everyday when I ride to work I go through a couple of bits wherer there are loads of bugs which inevitably stick to my helmet and jacket.

I would like to clean the jacket when i get home to get rid of all the nasty grey/white stains left by the bugs but I m not sure how to without damaging the leather. Simply wiping the jacket with a cloth does not seem to do anything. I dont want to use a brush because I am afraid of scratching the leater.

How do you guys deal with this?
Cheers
Ed.

Baby Wipes. Ive used them for years on my race leathers and they get rid of the bugs and leave them nice and soft!. If they are gentle enough for a babies bum then they will be fine for leathers! Although do test on a small area first!.

If the bugs are well stuck on them warm soapy water with again, baby shampoo also works, then put some leather treatment on them. Avoid anything with lanolin as it can rot the stitching. Horse saddlers normally sell some good leather treaments.

+1 for baby wipes. Huggies pure are great and half price at tesco just now. For visor I used to soak kitchen roll in warm water and place over visor for 20 min or so before wiping the debris off. Even worked on the scottish midge

I actually use baby wipes for the visor (avoided saying helmet there on purpouse :) ) and they work great.

I ll try them on the jacket tonight
