Traffic Police ALL OVER YORK earlier today - what the hell was going on?
 

I counted a total of 14 traffic cars and 3 camera vans mainly concentrated on the a19 where it connects with the ring road (a1237), there were about 8 traffic cars spread over half a mile. Then further round just coming off the a59 onto the a1237, there was a bmw M5 and Lancer Evolution, both fully marked cars with lights and sirens blazing. Further down near the a64 there were 4 volvos parked up. They were all zipping back and forth, parked up watching traffic and generally stopping people in strange places - a transit van was pulled up on a particularly small roundabout, causing traffic to swerve quite a bit...

any ideas? Any high profile escaped convicts about? Large amounts of money on the move? Or were they just having the annual north yorkshire traffic police fun day?

Weird but cheers ill keep my speed below 80 in the 64 tomorrow... just incase. :rolleyes:

Operation Orbit ( I think )
Checking vehicles for Tax, Insurance, MOT etc also dodgy plates, stolen, carrying stolen goods with a bit of alcohol & drug checking on the side. :shock:

sounds about right, they use spotters then pull over suspect vehicles...

or they are making the next police camera action.... condesed on one road.
