I was also present at this discussion, and I was sober enough to remember that Binky offered to do AR11 too - I think the option for after that was Bejing...

Thats passport country and they revert to speaking a different language when English is spoken in their presence. In addition don't they have a very "Pro Biker" attitude specially endorsed by a certain Chief Constable?
Would the orginisers give us a special dispensation for following people into speed limits at excess speeds.;););)

Just so we're all clear, there is no comittee deciding on the AR this early on. If you want the AR in YOUR area, on YOUR roads, and you think you can organise it. Stand up and be counted.

Hovis was, I think jokingly elected after the amount of comments he made about this year's AR. But, if you want the AR up north, or in wales, or in the midlands, just stand up and say "I'll organise it and It'd be here if I did". We can then get a vote on and pass that buck.

It's all very well to get upset that it's not where you want it to be, but when someone's said they'll go to all the effort of orgainising the event, it's so much harder to do it for a site 300 miles away than it is to do it locally. Put a bid in, or offer only positive support when someone steps up to the plate and says they'll organise it where they are.

NOOO!!!!!! dont do it!!!

I like my Quiffy as he is, and I dont want to see him stressing out about things like is there enough bog roll in the toilets, and mud on his carpets :)

Let someone else have to worry about all that Quiff, and just come and chill for the weekend (an yes that IS what staff are for, but you would still end up working if you were on site)

Brilliant idea tho.

I agree whole-heartedly with this. It's really frustrating to see all of the moaning and whingeing posts that get put up each year in the run up to the AR, regardless of where it is or who's organising it. If we were all paying membership for the org, or the person / people organising the AR were being paid a wage by us then yes, fair enough, our 'right' to complain would be different. But we're not. It's organised by people who donate huge amounts of personal time, petrol money, their own sanity and god knows what else; and I'm massively grateful for it.

Constructive criticism and useful suggestions, which are of help to the organiser should always be welcomed - but I do wish the sniping comments could just be left out. If someone on the Org is willing to organise accommodation, some food & facilities and a fantastic rideout route then I'm delighted to turn up, pay £5, £8, £10 or whatever, per night. Let's keep things in perspective and not turn the organisation of the AR into a stressful unpaid 'job' that discourages people from wanting to have a try at it.

I had a brilliant weekend - great place, great route and a fantastic bunch of orgers!

For me location and distance to that location isn't a factor. I've really enjoyed the last 2 being 'darn sarf' as the distance away from home has made it feel like a real break. Attending the last 2 years I've been able to enjoy some roads I've not ridden before just getting to the campsites, excellent roads on the rideout routes I probably wouldn't go and do myself outside of an AR weekend and met wonderful orgers :D

Living on the isle of man i don't know where that is, i've only heard of North Wales, Granted before leaving DP's i asked him if the M62 ran North to South, cough. Anyway AR 10 bring it on wherever it is.... less than a year now how near is that! :O

Re: Ar 10

i think AR10 should be earlier....... like june

and i will tell you for why........

the weather seems to be better, but the main reason is that it gets everyone together which then makes people want to do it again, like there seems to be a few weekend trips away after the AR, but theres not a lot of summer left,

there was not a lot going on pre AR , as it tends kicks everyone into gear, so then we would have more of the summer to enjoy

8-)

Spiderman 06-08-09 04:38 PM

Re: Ar 10

i like the idea but iirc we moved the AR to later in the year in an attempt to get better weather after the last 2 yrs were quite rainy.

I agree it gives other rideouts more attention tho. I know i wanna get away again.

Owenski 06-08-09 07:09 PM

Re: Ar 10

I dont think it can be done based on the weather really in the school holiday makes sense as the roads a quiter so anything from Mid July which is pretty much what we did.

ManxMatt34 06-08-09 08:54 PM

Re: Ar 10

Also, quite a few travel for TT races, which is still on going into June.... i would instantly be out, and i already helped 3 or maybe it was 4 sv'rs book for next year tt and were a wee while off to say the least, might have quite a few over yet for that.
