Spontaneous Rideout Text Alerts??!

Anyone interested in sharing mobile numbers so we can make others aware if we're going out for a ride and looking for company? I know we can post on here, but who logs in on Sunday morning?!

The weather forecast said rain today so I didn't bother posting any plans for a Sunday ride, but in fact this morning was okay - no rain at all. So I hopped on the bike and hit the road from Woking to Newlands Corner & Box Hill. It got me thinking that a quick text to local riders an hour before or so and we could've got a group together.

Box Hill / Newlands Corner is easy for me, but sometimes I head for Basingstoke and the A33 up to Reading. I'm sure you guys have got some good routes too.

Thoughts???

Great idea.......
But may be 2 hours plus notice would be better.
it takes me roughly 1 hour to get to box hill.
may be a next day notice ? .......

Sounds like a good idea, but I don't really know any good local routes.

If I am not busy I am usually up for mooching round on the bike - and yeah two hours might be better.

I'm about 1/2 hours ride from boxhill, but like Tony, it takes me a while to get all me gear on and get out the door, but I'm allowed being female and all, whats your excuse Tony ;)

my excuse is..
Inner gloves, outer gloves velco put into right place,
helmet put on over head scarf,
Making sure my ipod head phones are in a nice and comfortable place,
ah and checking to make sure I have the right play list and the volume is ok.:smt020
And last but most important I have my chewing gum I my mouth.
Last time I ended up stopping on the motorway to lock my helmet and ended doing 3 figures to catch everyone up.
After this check I’m happy to ride for the next few hours without stopping..
or it could be, i'm just slow..............:smt104 ha ha ha

Good idea, I do most of my computing at work so I tend to drop off the planet at the weekends.:smt026
