I've looked at some real dogs with people asking top money and not prepared to move. I'm pretty open with what I'm getting so not really bothered if its an SV, FZ, ER6, etc.


The VFR's seem to have a great reputation

That is my current project bike, come a long way to get itlooking like that and still needs more. You won't regret a 90-93 rc36 model. They go, look and handle amazingly. Ohand the sound is something else

I'm about 10 minutes from Basingstoke in Hampshire for my sins. Also been looking at the 800i but not the vtec model even though one went around the corner from me at a fairly good price.
Not sure how I'd get on with one as a daily and weekender as I've got a dodgy back - it happens when you get older :-)

They're insanely comfy, I have a weak left wrist so sports positions don't suit me anymore but the heli bars are nice, you can also buy even taller ones for a smidge over £100. Lots of wind protection as well.

I'd recommend you look for one with upgraded fork internals and at least a Hagon rear shock as they do get spongy but still handle great, they're an incredibly easy to ride bike and feel almost alien like in how well balanced and neutral they are. Take one for a spin and see how you get on, check the following:

Fuel reserve tap turns correctly
Choke works perfect
Gear lever for play (easy fix for this but a ballache at the same time)
temp gauge goes up to half way within half an hour (can be very slow but doesn't mean it's faulty)
Exhaust collector box for rot (most systems are changed out for SS ones anyway)

It's exactly the same lock as on practically every other suzuki from the mid 90s to the mid 2000s.

Either something was wrong with yours or you didn't master the "wiggle".

They all do it where the key needs a bit of fore-aft movement, same from off to on as well.

Having to use any serious effort means there was something wrong with yours, everybody else with a suzuki seems to manage fine!


You will note I'm not disagreeing with you that the brakes need keeping up to in maintenance or that the rear shocks are terrible!
Although what this looking pretty thing you're on about is I've got no idea. The paint on an SV is no worse than any other modern bike.
