Emmm help? Bike is cutting out

Hi everyone just found out about this forum. Im new here and been riding my SV now for lust over a year but it has now developed a problem and Im not sure what the cause could be.

A couple of months ago when slowing down to stop the engine just died and I coasted to a stop then started it and it ran on 1 cylinder with the red light on the left lit up. Turned it off and on again again 1 cylinder. Turned it off and pinned the throttle while cranking and it was fine again with both running.
Yesterday started it up, ran a minute pulled off up to 10mph then it just died and I coasted to a stop. Again red light was on. Cranked it and she wouldn't start just kept turning over. Finally tried again while opening the throttle and started again.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Its an 04 SV650S

Any help much appreciated
Mark

Not normally when running. Both times it cut out was a solid red and I cant remember if it was flashing when she ran on a single

Got new plugs arriving today so going to do them and an air filter change out, tb no idea how hard this is going to be, my last bike was a single and took under 30 seconds to change them out. Think with the SV the fuel tank has to come off. Will have a poke about in there as well to see if there is anything obvious :D

There should be a prop rod under the seat, alternatively some wood or a willing assistant (my mother was very helpful)

Single bolt top RHS of radiator will let you drop it down enough to get into the front plug, rear plug is under a rubber flap once the tank is lifted.

16mm spark plug socket if your toolkit doesn't suffice

Tamsens is a faired curvy but the general idea is the same

Was it raining at the time?

The front cylinder can have a habit of getting wet and knackering the front. Highly recommend getting a fender extender

I've had similar from the tip-over sensor being off its hook - but this wouldn't cause 1 cylinder running.

Ive seen the rod, will definitely use that, normally it just gets in the way of keeping stuff under the seat but this time it’ll perhaps actually be useful haha!

It wasn’t raining either of the times, first time when it ran on 1 the bike had been washed but had done a 20 mile fast ride so should have dried off by then. Have the fender extender but that’s definitely a good should for the next bike I get :D.

The tip over sensor, never thought of that one but your right it shouldn’t cause it to drop a cylinder
