Mk 1 carb replacement
Can anyone tell me what carbs are compatible with mk1?
Looking to replace mine and noticed a shed ton of 2003> carbs online Ta Sent from my ELE-L29 using Tapatalk |
Re: Mk 1 carb replacement
The 2003 onwards SV650 are fuel injected so they would have throttle bodies/injectors not carbs.
The 99-02 SV uses a (semi) downdraught type of carb (Mikuni BDSR39) and the only replacements I've heard of are for racing purposes, maybe someone else has experience... https://www.spearsenterprises.com/pr...650-1999-2002/ The 96-99 SRAD GSXR750 uses the same carb http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=64556 There are rebuild kits for the stock carbs and there are a few sets of carbs on ebay at the moment. The usual problems are stuck choke plungers, damaged screw heads (they have a JIS screw which are a bit soft) and blocked jets through being stood. The inlet rubbers can split with age causing air leaks. |
Re: Mk 1 carb replacement
Looking at the part numbers for the carb they don't appear to be shared by other bikes, though I would expect some internal parts may span models. The GSXR example above might well share things like the slide or piston valve according to Suzuki but do not expect a direct replacement of the entire mechanism.
To answer the question Keihin FCR39 and FCR41 carbs are used the SV650 though will require other modifications so are not a direct replacement, though I've not done this with either myself yet. However the bigger questions is why do you want to replace the carbs? Are you experiencing a problem? |
Re: Mk 1 carb replacement
Thanks fellas. Replacing due to leaking fuel through one of the seals.
