Does anybody fancy a weekday run out somewhere? I could do a weekend but the roads are just a bit crazy on Saturdays and Sundays while the weather is like this.

I'd bloody LOVE to, but work is in the way :(

For me, the roads around Llangollen / Bala etc seem quiet at the weekend, compared to the routes round my neck of the woods, it's all relative I suppose ... speaking of which, doing a duty visit to relatives in Scotland this weekend too, which means no biking.

I'm around at the weekend. Was planning a run down to crossgates, across to Aberystwyth then up towards Harlech, Bala and b5105 back home. Either sat or sun whichever has the better weather.

It's the large numbers of knee down heroes at the weekends that make me uneasy!

However...

I'll keep an eye on stuff for Saturday Grant. If you're out and about and I can join you I'll let you know.

Can't do Sunday though as my girls and I are going to Harlech for Gŵyl Tân a Môr Harlech Fire and Sea Festival.

Heh, dunno whether it's 'cos of the time of day I'm usually in Wales but I mostly see adventure bikes .... maybe the Power Rangers don't come out in the morning :D

It's more of a down. A483 from Chester.
Probably passing welshpool around 10. Although timing is a bit flexible. Be having brunch at crossgates around 11.

Weather is looking reasonable for Saturday, just the odd shower and a bit of thunder maybe. Plenty of cafes to duck into on the way around if need be.

Sioned, one of my daughters is coming along with me on pillion.

Looks nice. I'm hoping to get to Criccieth (via Betws-y-Coed) one day this weekend if the weather holds. That stretch from Betwys down through Blaenau to Porthmadog is probably my favourite ride.

Recently restored old masonry arch known as y Bwa, spanning the original road, built by Thomas Johnes of Hafod in 1810 to mark the Golden Jubilee of George III.
The SV650 in the picture is nearly as old as the arch!

Had a cracking run out to Bala this morning, and back home via Ruthin. it was surprisingly quiet on the roads. What was even more surprising was the complete lack of police, I assumed it'd be lifting with camera vans with it being a sunny day.

I thought I was keen setting off at 7:30am, but the prize for keenness has to go to the group doing wild swimming in Llyn Tegid when I got there. Now, I love swimming, and the lake was like a millpond today, but there's no way on earth you'd get me to swim in it, it must be f*cking FREEZING ...

That's a cracking piece of road, Cross Foxes to Tal-y-Llyn, and all the way down the side to Bryncrug.

Only went as far as machynlleth then back up't hill again. Speed camera setting up at Cross Foxes when I got back to the top.
I'll be doing the early run again so much more enjoyable without the traffic.

Exactly - I feel the same. On my runs to Wales (setting off about 7:30 / 7:45am) there's hardly anyone else on the road. Heading back home at 11am ish, it's garden-centre-tastic :rolleyes:
