Restricted ECU rev ceiling?
Just got a great SV after many years not riding. Really am enjoying the experience but still getting to grips with the V twin and engine breaking. I am told that I have the proper ECU fitted but it seems the bike tops out at around 8000 rpm without letting me go anywhere near the red line. Admittedly i was only really used to big two strokes but it seems a little strange that the power ends that early. Any thoughts??

Re: Bike Advice Needed
It's not normal for a full power ECU

Re: Bike Advice Needed
Cheers Ralph. The bike is standard so I am a little confused. What is normal when going through the gears, should it still be pulling after say 8500 rpm all the way through to say 10500?
Thanks |
Re: Bike Advice Needed
Yes, full power ECU should pull to the red line then bounce off the limiter (if you really want it to). I know restricted ECU runs out of puff early, but I've never ridden one so I can't be of much use there I'm afraid.

Re: Bike Advice Needed
sounds like the bike may be restricted. What year is your bike?

Re: Bike Advice Needed
Sounds restricted to me.
I have a full power ECU available from a K5 which will fit most up-to k7 I believe. I can ship it for you to try and if it works then you can buy it. what year bike do you have. |
