tech tip for searching
I wish I could take credit for this but I saw it on reddit. Anyway, say you wanted to search for spark plug but only wanted to search on this forum. If you type into Google:
spark plug +forums.sv650.org It will only search in this forum for anything that mentions spark plug. I have used this before: site:forums.sv650.org spark plug but it eventually starts searching elsewhere. |
Re: tech tip for searching
The + means forums.sv650.org must be in the result
Another useful search tool is - which will exclude a term from the results Quotes " " either side of a word or phrase which will search for an exact match There are more, but these are the ones I use regularly, also Ctrl+f for searching within a page |
Re: tech tip for searching
I regularly use google rather than the search function on the forums themselves to find stuff, usually comes up with more specific results. It does come up with results not on forums but sometimes they are just as useful.
Good tips about narrowing down searches though. |
Re: tech tip for searching
Another tip when searching on google. To exclude an expression or word, add -(word) at the end of the search string.
EG. sv650 -svrider will exclude svrider from the results. |
