Hi
I had my Garmin mount wired in but now I want to sell my bike and want to remove it. I’ve looked at the wiring and I’m confused!

I thought it only had red and black but think they might have split the red? Because it goes to a taped up section and goes two ways. One goes to a white plastic box and I can’t see where it goes then, and the other goes to a black plastic box with a fuse in and then towards the front of the bike.

I don’t know what to do and afraid of causing a problem with other electrics. Any suggestions please? It’s currently not taxed so I’d have to tax it for a month to take it to a garage!

The unknown white box is a 4 pin Suzuki plug with a cover on it presumably for an option of some kind. The cover itself has two pins inside which (I'm guessing) are shorted together to make a connection to something in the loom when the cover is fitted. My bike has the same (I had a quick look).
You have 2 ancillaries connected - you pointed out the Garmin on the left but the (indicated) fuse on the right is another "extra" - do you have a connection for a battery tender or perhaps heated grips?

It looks like the big red loop at the top of the picture is the source of the power although I cannot see where it is tapped into from the angle of the picture. The loop feeds power into the "triangle of death" (thought I'd add some drama) which feeds your Garmin on the left and the mysterious flux capacitor's fuse on the right.

Looks like the fuse box on the right is OEM as it then goes into protective sleeving as it travels towards the tank. It looks like that fuse powers your white box, which looks like an unused connector. Someone decided to use that feed for your Garmin, maybe because it's only live when the ignition is on. I think you can just disconnect your Garmin from that T joint and leave the feed to the connector intact, just repair the insulation.

Thanks. It’s all very complicated ����. I have heated grips so that’s prob the other thing. Nothing else wired in. I’ll take the black tape off the three way join and have a look but I was thinking it might be soldered or something.

Ok so rather than splitting the Garmin red, it looks maybe like they’ve stripped a gap in the existing red wire and soldered the Garmin one to it. So can I just cut it off and wrap electrical tape around the exposed bit?

I know nothing re Garmin wiring but if u just desolder the three wires then I would guess you would be left with the original wire with its insulation stripped off. Doing it that way it would be easy to reattach the loose wire if needed

I was thinking that. If you can't desolder the Garmin wire just cut it short of the solder and then cover the exposed wire/solder with lots of insulating tape.
