Bargain Alerts Thread!!!

I thought I'd start a thread for any good current deals going.I suggest date and time posted to keep them up-to-date.

This is what prompted me.

ASDA Supermarkets.

1 Bottle of Red X fuel treatment £3.00 or a,"Triple Pack" for £7.00

Friday 5th Oct.2017

Apart from cleaning the system with one good glug(Half a bottle into a tank with a good amount of fuel in it)) if you have not used it before it also can prevent fuel going stale if the Bike/s are ,"Winterized".Then just a cap full or two now and then :)

Although I put today's date I was in my local ASDA yesterday and that was the price on the shelf.I didn't need any as I got lucky and Wilkos had some for 2 quid a bottle on special offer a while ago so got a couple :)

Re: Bargain Alerts Thread!!!

Absolutely.I've been using RedX and similar for over 40 years in vehicles.I always have good MPG/Performance so it pays for itself.
Fuel systems, just like clutches etc, degrade overtime slowly so it's hard to notice their lowering inefficiency.

Check out this video,

YouTube Video
Error: If you cannot see this video, then either YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed to play it.

and every Spring I see many Bikers on forums having problems when they come to start up their"Winterized" bikes as the fuel can go stale.RedX or similar fuel additives can prevent this and do no harm.

In the,"Old Days" on my Norton Dominator 500 I used to put a slug of RedX down the Spark plug holes and spin the engine but not start it and leave overnight. Then in the morning it would chuck a S*it load of carbon out of the cans as it cleaned to tops of the pistons and heads as a liquid de-coke.I wouldn't do that on my SV though as it's a young engine(Just shy of 20k miles now) even though it's a 1999 model.Redx can prevent this carbon build up as well :)

Re: Bargain Alerts Thread!!!

I'm a big fan of redex as well, used to have mega problems starting carburettor bikes and lawnmowers after winter lay-up, needed sprays and easy start etc. and even then took a while to get back to normal smooth running - but using redex the bikes and mowers used to start pretty easily and run and tick-over smoothly straight away. Since getting an injected SV L7 in early 2016 I continued using it as it not real expensive and certainly does no harm. Modern fuels don't leave carbon deposits but certainly when they dry out they can leave a sticky laquer behind that can gum up injector needle and nozzle holes, and maybe even fuel pump.

I can easily get low 70's MPG from my L7 making good progress, and if I'm not in a hurry and use short-shifting I can get over 80.

Ok, I'll stick my neck out with a non-Redex deal!

Sidi B2 Gore-tex boots amongst the Black Friday specials at Infinity Motorcycles online.

Down from £249 (ok, that's a bit on the high side) to £160... but if you use the Code BF25 you get a further £25 off taking them down to £135 which seems like a bargain to me. Just hoping the sizing is accurate on the pair I ordered.

That code seems to work on all products over £150, even if already reduced. Deal finishes on Monday I think.

Look like a bargain, anyone had any experience of them?

Re: Bargain Alerts Thread!!!

I have no experience of those as I use Keis heated inner gloves but Alpine as a brand have always been high quality and that is a great price.See if you can find some reviews on Amazon?

Also I've bought a lot of stuff over the years from M&P and they have always been a good seller for me.

Tip which you may know,Always make sure you buy gloves a little on the larger size than too tight.

i've just cleaned my leather jacket using screwfix no nonsense degreaser (40/60 mix). worked a fekin treat. i think its the first time i have ever cleaned the jacket.

to bring back suppleness the best thing you can treat leather with is plain old hand cream preferably containing lanolin or if you can get it use pure lanolin.

leather care is all down to making sure that the product you use does not interact with the top coating winch is plain old PVC. yup thats right your leather jacket has a top coat of pvc.

Nice one.I've been using Screwfix and Toolstation quite a bit.Since Maplins went down I had to find another local source for Switch cleaner and Toolstation do one even cheaper than Maplins or Halfrauds @ £2.99.

Brake cleaner is really cheap at Screwfix also, 600ml cans too!

BTW brake cleaner is only good for removing storage film from discs. otherwise its shizz at actually removing crud like pad dust.

I find vinyl gloves are the strongest, as you say latex are not very good and split very easily, and some people are allergic to latex as well.

Latex also degraded by petroleum products so when messing with oil and grease (normal reason for wearing gloves) the latex is attacked by them.

Bought one of these for colder weather riding as I always wear two long sleeved Thermal -T-shirts and then a thin/medium fleece lined jumper in the cold.

So good I've just bought another.Total Bargain at around £3.60,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Ther...72.m2749.l2649

But I also have a thermal long sleeved Turtle neck one as well

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mens-Ther...bFh21kNbden6VA

that really keeps the wind off the neck along with a Thin Bike balaclava.

£14.99.
