My first input here of 2017, taken on the last day of 2016 but... FIL was heading back to Shrewsbury by train after spending the festive period at Trev Towers and I volunteered to go with him to make sure he got across Brum OK as he had to change stations as well as train and he is after all 83. It felt odd getting on the train heading west instead of east towards London! Had a bit of a wander around after seeing FIL off at New Street and rather enjoyed the modernity of the library and the odd lizard skin-like exterior of the Selfirdges building on the edge of the Bull Ring shopping centre. Lots of people snap this place and from some angles it's hypnotic to the point of disorientation. But fun nonetheless.

Like the angle.

It's one of our funky buildings.

Nice shot Sir T. Did you visit the floozy in the Jacuzzi on your visit?

It certainly is a funky building as Red Ones says and looks even weirder in the flesh, so to speak.

I did wander through Victoria Square John but the weather was so gloomy and there was so much scaffolding and signage going up for the NY Eve celebrations I did not get any shots of the Floozie. Will head back when it's warmer when I'll also have time to wander the canals and the jewellery quarter as well.

Designed by a Czech called Jan Kaplický with his then suppose Amanda Levete. He died a few years ago. Thet are the same team, Future Systems, who designed the media centre at Lord's which won the Stirling Prize. I worked with her a bit when we came to refurbish the media centre, she was very creative but didn't really understand that as well as looking good the building also had to be fit for purpose. She couldn't understand why it was a problem that the journos sitting on the back row couldn't actually see the cricket if we rolled down the fancy blinds she'd designed.

Playing with sweet wrappers, a light box and the new flash gun.

Looks good John :) I end up cropping mine because I only have a 400mm lens.

Went out to take the dog for a walk this morning. Nice & misty, so took my old Panasonic bridge camera with me

I still had to crop this image Colin. It's about a quarter of the original. Love the monochrome shot, I took one similar other day. Just goes to show that you don't need really expensive equipment to get good results.

Didn't realise you could get cameras that were subject specific :---)
