Ha ha! Probably the end of next year at this rate.

My old curvy could do with a bit of a cosmetic refresh really, as it is looking like a well used bike, but I don't have the money to do much about it. It would also mean I'd have to be bikeless while I did it, and I don't really want it off the road for that length of time. One day.....

No point in having a litre bike on todays roads, it could be a one way trip to a wooden overcoat if you try to use performance.... The SV has ( IMHO ) just the right amount of performance in the right place ( pretty good without revving the nuts off it ) and if you need standard handling improving you may well be going too fast on the roads anyway ( different if it is a bike used on track). Never been one for blinging up bikes for the sake of it, tried an MRA flyscreen which did not seem much of an improvement except in that it made helmet a lot noisier, so now taken off ) fitted fender extender, rear hugger, tank knee grips and LED spotlights and LED headlight bulb (the last two more for people seeing me than for me seeing the road as I am not normally on the bike after dark - but they would be useful if I was ).

Glad you are enjoying the bike Gary, and good to hear some people on here still own and more importantly ride their SV's!

Mine makes me smile too, especially now it has new tyres, chain and brakes that work! I do wonder about other bikes - having never owned anything other than a YBR125 before my SV. However when it does die, hopefully from some non catastrophic reason. I think I might be getting another one.

Mainly because I'm always skint and this one has treated me well. Plus 11,000 miles a year and I can't justify a brand new bike, or an expensive one the mileage would devalue it far too quickly.
Not unless I could afford two bikes. And then one would be an SV anyway!

Obviously not a Curvy though - their ugly.

Ha!! Heresy! Burn all the heretics. Or make them ride a 1970s, 250cc CZ stinkwheel! :-D

Not knowing what a 1970s, 250cc CZ stinkwheel was I had to google it.

Looks better than a curvy.

Still not sure why stink wheel though?

CZ's scramblers and enduro machines were very competitive, but I think Gary meant CZ's road bikes:

'Stinkwheel' comes from the fact that 2-stroke engine burn oil because of their pre-mix or oil injection systems. I happen to like the smell a lot :)

I've owned mine from new, exactly the same as yours in the fab candy blue. 18 years of happy and largely trouble free ownership.

I've done 40k miles on mine, and agree with you about them being brilliant bikes. Track days, touring, commuting, Sunday fun, it does it all pretty well.

I have other bikes, most of them far "better" than the little SV, but I know which one of them will never get sold!
