25 years
If I'm not mistaken the SV650 first appeared in 1999. So it's our 25th celebration. Hard to believe it's quarter of a century.

Re: 25 years
I have a copy of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics from 2000 in which they ride a naked curvy in the 'future classics' section.
A prescient article, it likens the SV to a late 60s 650 Bonneville, in that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts and that it has that intangible but unmistakable characteristic: soul. |

Happy quarter century SV. Most find it hard to believe its still in production all these years later, but then those of us who've had one know why all too well.

Mine is a 99er. I could photo it but its in need of a bit of attention so R1Fs will have to do. Looks the same apart from the exhaust and no wind shield.

Re: 25 years
I bought my first new one, an "S" in 2000 in US. Second one, used, another "S" in 2013 (it was a 2002 model) in UK and my current one, new in 2016. I guess I like them.
If they brought out the blue frame/gloss white tank paint scheme again I might not be able to stop myself buying another. |
Re: 25 years
Much as I love my Gen 3 - and I really do love it - I'd never have replaced my K6 pointy if a patch of diesel on the A41 hadn't written it off. Even if the riding position was a bit hard on the wrists until you got used to it.
