Elefantentreffen 2017
 

Has anyone been to this? Me and the brother-in-law have made our minds up to go in 2017. To that effect we are making a sidecar combination out of an '89 FJ1200 and a Watsonian Squire. I have yet to get something 'suitable'!


Has anyone been? Does anyone else fancy going?

A good read that, thanks for sharing! Making a list of 'essential' things to take. No doubt I could halve it if necessary


I have now managed to pick up a BMW F650 on the cheap. A few jobs to do and it should be good to go. I just got a set of Conti Escapes for it. I was put off getting something knoblier by a few people who said something like the TKC80 would never last the miles.....

Did it in 1963 or 64
Set off on my scooter but didn't get to Croydon let alone Dover, so hitched a ride with my pal on his Vincent/Steib.
Got to Nurburgring OK and it was bitterly cold so pocketed the iron rations ( brandy ) and walked round the circuit - all 5 hours 52 minutes of it.
Snow was up to my charmpits and managed to roll at Karussel. Stayed warm though which is more than my pals did in the tent.

Looking back - I think we were just grateful it wasn't snowing when we were putting the tent up! Would go again
