Old Helmets
 

In these days of Green/Recycling, how do members dispose of old helmets?

Chucking it in the bin doesn't seem right, selling on to someone else is an alternative if its usable but personally i would not buy 2nd hand.

Is there a Helmet Grave yard somewhere? :-({|=

My attic seems to collect all my old ones, I don't know of any recycling schemes.

I believe you are able to give them to local fire stations who use them for practice...not the same as been green but someone may aswell get some use!

according to my old honda dealer before they went bust there's a scheme going where they give them to 3rd world countries.

...on the basis that a used and knackered helmet of unknown provenance is better than no helmet at all?

Or just cos we want to fill a 'third world' [I hate that phrase] landfill site rather than a UK one?

Your local ambulance crews will take them off your hands to practice removing bike helmets from injured people. Well worth donating to them IMO.

Alternatively, keep them, they'll look cool in 30 years' time. Imagine how good it'd look to have a line of 1970s helmets along a wall in your garage?

Yep Jax has done a good job on them all, and we have four at our house now.
