I've killed the Blue Cow

Hi all,

Long story - Short.

On the way home tonight along the M4 heading towards Bristol. The Bike starts losing power, then starts making a clunking sound.
I pull over, takes my lid off, this doesn't sound good. I think the engine has gone bye bye.
Calls RAC out, checks oil in glass window = None existent
Check for oil around swingarm or ****ing out of somewhere = Nope
Check for oil anywhere on bike = nope

Last serviced @ 17k
Now done 24k

Full service history, and funnily enough is booked for a service in the morning at George Whites in slough.
For a full service and new tyres..

On a scale of 10 how ****ed am I?

No Bike, with engine fooked. Don't know where I stand as afar as warranty, and fearing the worst.
Ni sign of losing oil, and last checked the oil about 3 weeks ago when I washed her the time before last, and oil was in there??
Serviced back in late August.
Still reckon I wil have to take the brunt of this one folks - what de ye reckon?

I can't beleive my luck.
If a meteorite was to fall to earth, penny to a pound of ****e it would land on my head.

Mrs Mass is not happy, and as she rightly put it " you've just throne 6k down the drain"

I feel like - I dunno really - I've lost the will to live!

Will phone Suzuki in th morning, as she's stil under warranty, but I'm not holding out much luck.

Mass

I'm a bag of nerves, and mixed emotions...bollox! :help:

pants.
on the SV, should you get a "low oil warning light" ? and did you get it ?

damn, its one expensive lesson learned i suppose.

good luck.

Sorry to hear this, hope you sort things out as best you can. The good news is that you'll only ever do this once. Honestly, it's true. I did it in a car some years ago and the big ends went - do I check my oil on both car and (especially) bike very often? Oh yes ;).

NO.. Id didn't get a low oil light on at all. Does the K4 have this?

IF so, then something has gone wrong horribly then?

Thanks for that BB

I can honestly say that No light came on at all.

:?

The SV does have an oil pressure warning light but based on a conversation I had with JHSRacing earlier this year it appears that the oil mist is enough to confuse the sensor.

Did you leave it ten minutes before checking the oil level?

The clunking really doesn't sound good. Was it particularly smoky at all?

Jeez mate it doesn't appear too good does it? It might be an idea to just get them to give an opinion on the problem with the motor and not to go running the meter on the other costs just yet. If the engine is goosed might a second hand lump off a low mileage wrecked bike not be an economic answer? :?

Sudoxe 16-11-05 11:42 PM

d'oh
My SV did the same thing.... :?

there should definatley be some motors out there, i mean bikes get front end right-off all the time without recking the main bits of the motor.

out of intrest how many miles had you done i three weeks? is it normal to loose all the oil in three weeks?

Shocked to hear this, Mass. :( :( :( :( :(

At some point a rational explanation should be found to what
happened. My experience indicates that an SV hardly uses up any oil
at all and your mileage is not that high.
