Just add lightness

Hi all, given there is not massive hp gains to be had from the SV.

How much weight can realistically be lost in the search for more performance?

Depends on whether this is a road bike or track bike.

If a track bike there is loads you can remove to get weight down, however it's all stuff you wouldn't want to ride on the road without.

In my case I think the biggest possible weight savings would be made around my midriff.;)
I couldnt comment on anyone else:confused:

Swap out the battery for a lithium one that's about 3kg saved and probably the biggest single saving on a road bike along with ditching the stock bazooka.

What performance mods have you done so far.

Losing weight would be down on my list of improvements to increase performance

If it's a track only bike then lighter wheels, but that's going to cost you.

Depends on what you class as "massive hp gains", what you want from your bike, and how much money you want to spend?

There is lots that can be done to the engine. Cam swaps, porting, flowing, big bore, lightened fly wheel, crank, rods, larger induction, lighter valves, race exhaust, ignition timing. All of that will add to the power output, but some of it costs more than others for its benefits.

If you want to loose weight from the bike, dump the fairings, the rear subframe can be replaced with ally as can the bars and pegs, if its not for the road you can loose the lights, side stand, seat. Even keeping some of that stuff for a road bike can be replaced with smaller lighter items.

The possibilities are almost endless...
