Re: AR14: The Route

Just taken the liberty of adding the AR route onto 'GoLoco maps - here's the linky:

> 2014 SV650 AR Route

"Why bother with this, rather than Google Maps!?" - I hear you cry...

Well, brethren - because you can now use that route as your starting point for creating your 'Getting there' / 'Going Home' / Adding On Extra Bits' routes, a bit like laying a sheet of tracing paper over a traditional paper map.

Oh - and you can also export it straight from there onto your Garmin/TomTom GPS too, if that's your thing.

Enjoy - see y'all there!

;)

Re: AR14: The Route

Hey, I've made it easier to bung the route onto a Garmin, TomTom or Navman... And made it easier to build a before/after route and add it onto the start/end of it.

I don't know, some folks ;)

AR14: The Route

I had guessed similar to what we did on AR13 and TOGMIE.

Re: AR14: The Route

i have phoned Kielder Petrol Station and they are still open for business. 7am-7pm unmanned self service chip and pin only.

so we have 3 petrol stations on route but only one scheduled stop which is at Longtown around 78 miles from the start of the run.

Having seen your route, I really wish I could be there. I wonder how many will be forsaking lunch to ride down to Melmerby and u turn back up the hill? (and then doing a second time, I would.)

Ride safe and enjoy a beautiful part of northern England (and that little bit of Scotland)

Re: AR14: The Route

I will definitely be doing Melmerby and back. We had hoped to put it in the main AR route but the high casualty rates on that stretch put us off.

I can understand. That piece of road is real fun. But I have seen a few whose enthusiasm exceeds ability come a cropper there.
