I'm also definitely in attendance for this one - anyone got any toy suggestions?

Spiderman 23-11-09 07:34 PM

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

Choice of toys is all yours mate. All the organisers ask is you wrap them and out a tag on saying boy or girl and age range of the toy.
Obviously i, and i'm sure plenty others, tend to find motorbike related toys if i can.
Dont have to be big, dont have to be expensive.

I think the same services as last time is probably best. I'll have a chat to Pete about times.

You just want another bottle of wine, Emma! :p

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

As mentioned the day after the soho xmas bash, but I'm also moving house the same w/end as well. On top of that if I'm fit enough I'll try to come, but the ride ends @ the Ace. So I could meet y'll in the afternoon, get some food there or head out somewhere nr by for food if people want to do that. The local pub to the new house is meant to be quite from what I have been told. All very close by to the Ace I make it in about 15 minutes.

Lissa - how do we get involved with this? Do we get pressies for the children and deliver them or are we just the delivery peeps? Can we donate pressies even if we can't make the delivery?

I'd like to help out somehow

Hi Sally,

Yes, we buy the pressies. It's actually good fun I think, as I no longer have any youngsters to buy for. You can buy for either a boy or a girl, just make sure you put a tag on the present saying which sex/age range the gift is suitable for.

You could certainly get involved even if you can't make it. I'm sure someone would be happy to get something on your behalf and take it along. :D

orose 03-12-09 05:36 PM

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

You'll never manage to wrap that up and get it on the back of a bike :p

Spiderman 03-12-09 05:36 PM

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

sorry my sweet.

OK basically theres usually a big van that we chuck all the pressies in at the Ace at the start of the day and then we just ride to the hozzies and hang about in the car park while a group of "official" Santas go up to the wards and give out the toys.

We usually get a full police escort thru red lights etc from location to location. You can arrive at the Ace, drop off your pressies and go home or stay with the ride for as long as you like. Your choice.
:)

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

Ah brilliant thanks! I'd like to come along myself, but the way things are going at the moment it may not be possible.
At least I could get a pressie there for them.

Ta xx

Ok, we'll be M1-ing it sadly, so will be at Toddington Services for 9am to leave at 9.30. Enough time to fill up, have a hot drink and a pee. :D

Emma, Rory, presume this will suit you both?

We've normally met at the Toys'r'us car park 30 minutes before it all starts?

We will just go straight to the Ace, DB. We'll be wanting a cuppa and a crack at winning the best dressed bike award again, just to p*ss off the Harley boys! :p

Can't speak for Minifun or SVRory though, they might like to join you.

Damn you all - there wasn't a choice when I wrote that :p

There's only one thing that'll convince me either way now - is the brekkie any good at the ace?

The queues for the brekkie will be huge, so you'll need to get there early to stand any chance of scoff.

We tend to just have a cuppa.

lissa a link to where your meeting up in the midlands near the m1? then i should be able to join you as well.

orose 06-12-09 06:58 PM

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

I think I'll have to chance it - it'll be too early to get anything before there, unless I take the risk on the services.

sunshine: Toddington services is just south of J12 (A5120)

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

a few years ago i got there early with the intention of getting brekkie. Saw the queue 4 deep and out the door into the car park and jumped on the bike to the mcdonalds by hanger lane instead. Was surprised by just how many others bikers were there too.

We're not meeting anyone else until Toddington services, just after junction 12.

We could, however, meet you at Watford Gap services, but we would be wanting to leave there no later than 8.30am.

Looks like about an hour for you to there, so you'd probably need a hot drink by then.

We've already scoped out the Maccy D's. 1.2 miles from the Ace! :D

You could leave your bike at the Ace and walk there and back. Better for your waistline! :p

Spiderman 06-12-09 07:11 PM

Re: Ace Cafe Toy Run Sunday 13th December

haha, what you saying about my waistline missy???

Seriously tho, if anyone plans to walk it ask me to tell you the back way. If its a cold day you really wont enjoy walking along the side of the north circular up to hangar lane past all the world of leathers and other industrial bits with cars and lorries helping to blow more cold air at ya.

The back road way is simply and probably only a few minutes longer. But i know how lazy i get when i'm cold so i'll be going by bike regardless, lol.
