Keys rattling against tank

I have my motorcycle key on a ring with a bunch of other keys. When I’m out on the road I can hear the keys rattling a bit against parts of the motorcycle. What do people use to stop keys scratching their bike? Pouches or do you have the motorcycle key on its own?

I keep my bike key separate for that reason.

Keys separate

I use a plunger style detachable keyring connector* for the ignition key and the other associated keys I use for the bike (lock keys, top box key etc.).

On the bike, the ignition key is separated from the other keys that then go safely in a zip pocket. Off the bike it means I can keep them all together.

* Like this (random Amazon search result - better quality or different size etc. may be available elsewhere.) Use the female end for the ignition key and wrap some tape around it to minimise yoke scratching.

Separate - I used to just use a single carabiner to clip my motorbike key on to the bunch. Now I use these. So I can add and remove what I want to lug around with me.

I've only got bike associated keys with ignition key, I have four key 'protectors' made from nurf gun bullets that slip over each key so no scratching of the top yoke and no rattling either. Bit sad I know but works for me and I hate seeing scratched yokes ...even on other people's bikes.

Thanks for the replies. I am 100% sure I'll forget the key in the bike if I have it separated. I'll probably but something like this on it so it's easy to see!

Met some kids the other day that had a neat solution. Don't use keys. Just keep a scredriver in the tray of your scooter. Along with other tools. They happened to be trying to nick my DRZ at the time, but I'm sure they were well adjusted sensible types.

I only have bike related keys on the key ring (ignition and 2 locks)

If you're worried about leaving keys in the bike, get a coiled key ring thing:

I used to dispatch ride around London on an RD250. The ignition barrel was quite worn and one day I got to a drop off, went to turn the engine off with the key and... it wasn't there. No idea when it had vibrated out but spent the rest of the day just using the kill switch to switch the bike off and hoping no one noticed the ignition was still on while I dropped off.
After that I used one of those coiled things and attached it to either my gloves or zip. If it pinged out again, I wouldn't lose it and whenever I got off, you were attached to the bike so remembered to remove the key.
