Lose your life like you loose your license?

Lot of talk about punshments at the moment

You get 12 points you loose your driving license.

How about the same totting up system for criminals. If you tot up 100 points you get a lethal injection.

Murder/rape would be worth 49 points per conviction, so on a second offence you effectively run out of credit.

Basic crimes 10 points

Armed robbery 33 points, third offence you run out of credit, next time you commit any crime it's game over.

etc, etc

So you get a number of chances to serve your prison time and rehabilitate, depending upon the seriousness of your crime, but if you persistently re-offend, and are clearly never going to be anything but a source of grief to society and a burden on the prison system, out of credit, game over.

Just a talking point, nothing else, thoughts?

Discussing the merits of the idea and not the boring method of death / other pedantic mumbo jumbo - I'd say brilliant idea with the exeption of the human desperation to survive.

Eg, say Im on 68points for doing 2 arm robberies in my yoof, fresh out of prison and with no income I turn to my usual trick of getting a weapon and trying to liberate someone from their hard earned. Only it goes pete tong and I hear the blues and twos, Im already armed and Im dead if Im caught so lets be honest you're gonna start shooting every officer you see before most likely turning the gun on yourself.

If it were 1 point for swearing we'd all be dead!

But if you know that you're dead if your caught, then would you commit the crime? The death penalty as it stands in for instance the US is only a deterrent for things like murder, but you can get a wrong conviction and the wrong person gets executed. If you've had to murder 3 times to get the death penalty it's much less likely that the person executed doesn't deserve it, and it acts as a deterrent to other crimes if your already totting up, so for instance somebody convicted of 10 robberies, is just somebody we don't need in society.

Touche!

Logic would suggest I'd be less inclined.
But logic rarely features in desperation.

So Honestly I dont know! :-O

Somebody still has to catch the criminal and as I see it you have a better chance of getting away with it than being caught-----therein lies the basic problem

Seriously though, watched a video recently of a bloke receiving ten lashings on a bare ar$e for drink driving. They looked blummin' sore and a very good deterrent to others. Wonder what they'd do to their looters? Points system an interesting one...how easy would it be for people to use up other people's points though...?

Good point DT, but even those we do catch, we are going soft on.

I've edited the points in the OP a bit so it makes more sense.
