m4a - mp3 conversion
Anyone know of a safe reliable (free?) conversion prog? I've done some Googling and come up with a few options, but would appreciate some hands-on experience advice.
I've got some m4a files that I want to put onto my Garmin Zumo, but that will only play mp3 (yes, only mp3). I'm sure i-tunes will let you do it, but for some bizarre reason I can't get the i-tunes free download past my security suite (it won't let me get Winamp either). |

Turn it off when you download itunes as that will do it.

Re: m4a - mp3 conversion
iTunes will do it in a sort of stupid way (when you can get it, that is). Just go to the programs preferences, advanced, importing, select "import using MP3 encoder", choose your settings. OK out of there, then go to your library, select your m4a files, then advanced menu, convert to mp3. It'll duplicate the files on the library, so click one of them with the right mouse button, show in Windows Explorer and it'll take you there. Could be more straightforward, but hey ho... it works.

while we're on it, what about transferring a video file to 3gp?

Dont get trapped into Vendor Lock-in. Plenty of non-encumbered MP3 players out there. |
