Off to Scotland for a few days

My mate Mick and I are taking my daughters on a bit of a motorbike adventure to Scotland tomorrow. We're just going as far as the SW corner, got accomodation for 3 nights not far from Kirkudbright.

I'll post some pictures of the trip.

lucky beggar --- lovely part of the country and great biking roads - if you can get down to the lighthouse at Mull of Galloway it is a lovely spot and a really nice cafe with stunning sea and coast views - enjoy

Port Logan is also nice harbour with a couple of pubs.

Make the most of the seafood, everything twice the size in Scotland.

No seafood for me thanks, me and the girls are strictly veggie.

Trip is not going quite as anticipated. Got rained off yesterday, so except for a trip into Kirkcudbright for breakfast and shopping, we spent the day indoors playing board games. Today I have to try and see a doctor at short notice about something I was due to see my own GP for, but which has flared up very suddenly. Hopefully it will be in and back out with a prescription so we can make the most of today's sunshine.

Fingers crossed for you all Gary. Looking forward to the pictures, once you get out and about, not of your medical condition, obviously, I'll stop talking now...

Broughton House and garden worth a visit, former home of Scots artist E.A. Hornel.
I've not been for a while but last time I was there the garden was spectacular.

Thanks for the recommendation about Broughton House, it's on the list for the next trip.

Short and successful trip to the doctor.Rest of the day was spent on a great ride in the sun to round the coast to the Isle of Whithorn and back.

Heading back home tomorrow.

Re: Off to Scotland for a few days

We stayed at Garlieston (just up from Isle of Whithorn) a few years ago in a cottage right by harbour entrance, it was the highest tide of the year and we worried when the water nearly came onto patio, it went across the road a bit as well. Lovely place, its claim to fame apparently is the 'Mulberry' floating harbours used in WW2 Normandy landings were built there.

Re: Off to Scotland for a few days

We did the southern section of the A714 from Newton Stewart Lance. We'll have to take a look at the bit to Girvan next time.
