Rideout! Comments! Notes! and other stuff!

Hope everyone got back OK from Stow?

Had to leave early because I arranged to meet someone later on, and we were riding a little slow. Didn't realize what time it was.

Jelster, cheers for organising this. I know it was hard work with such a large group. 8)

I've posted a photo in the other section. Small image sorted out so should be OK on 56K.

Huge thanks to Jelster, Baldyman, Sid Squid, BigApe and everyone else for a fantastic day. Nice to meet people and put some faces to the names :D

Right, 437 miles and 13 hours later Im home. Hope everyone else got home ok.

Id complain about how much my bum hurts but seeing Rictus there kind of makes it seem like nothing. Though a very long soak in the bath is now on the cards :D

hall13uk 05-06-05 05:52 PM

Rictus was there
that man is hard core :)

Rictus - your crazy, congrats on makeing it!

Dan

Ed 05-06-05 05:59 PM

Just this minute got home. I have the (somewhat dubious) honour of being the slowest rider on the rideout!!!

HUGE thanks to Simon for waiting for me.

And on the way back I lost John and Daryl & Nicola at Evesham. It used to be a sleepy little place, now it's all ring roads and roundabouts.

Off to soak in the tub!!!

Jabba 05-06-05 06:03 PM

South Wales Contigent Home safe and sound - if a little wet

Started hammering down at the bridge. Mrs V says it's been raining here all day

Nice to meet everyone - sorry if I didn't say "Hi" to everyone, especially Tara  , and pleased that Lynw managed to sit on it :D

Good to see Rictus about - can't believe he rode there

330miles and my bum hurts.

Jdubya 05-06-05 06:09 PM

Yep, brilliant ride...350miles door-to-door and all in 9hrs :? Very sore bum/thighs/groin and wrists :( Sorry we missed you Mark....man you are hardcore( saw you going past us on the A40)
I did't get to see many people other than the essex foursome I rode with.
Just one comment about the rideout though...perhaps a stop after and hour/ hour thirty rather than 2h20min would have been better...just an observation though

Aye - the faces were familiar enough, but some of the voices/accents were not what I'd imagined

Got a bit closer to Mysteryjimbo's luggage than I'd have liked at one point

And as for Ceri JC turning up for the rideout a day early..........

What a bloody Great day out. A fine turnout of people too :D

Firstly may i thank Jelster and crew for an excellent day out and to all un-offical helpers that stopped on corners and pointed limbs in the right direction so all of us wouldn't get lost.

I met some great folk, but many thanks to Ettienne & Charl for letting me tag along as RizlaSv's deputies on patrol...

Cheers for a great day

Rubba

Viney 05-06-05 07:06 PM

Don't worry dude - just wasn't expecting you to do that

Still the packet of biscuits I knicked from your paniers as you whizzed past helped us out on the way home

Sorry about the tyre - glad you made it home.

The Mass 05-06-05 07:11 PM

Been home about an hour.

Nagai and I lost you lot when we went for petrol at Tesco.
We did out best to find you lot again, but decided to make our way to Stratford for the rest of the day.

Thanks to everyone who organised the day :notworthy:
Some absolutely brilliant roads, and great set of people to match
A great site of a load of SV's going up the hill towards Morton-in-the-marsh.(sp?) which I'll remember forever.

Nice to put names to faces...a great day out!!
See yers all again soon

Jelster 05-06-05 07:20 PM

I would like to say thanks to Leigh (Baldyman) as after the initial couple of scouting trips he pieced it all together at the end.

Greg, Simon and Ian, cheers for the help.

And thanks peeps for turning up, it wouldn't have been the day it was without your company...

Oh and big it up to Rictus, the man can hardly walk, has a broken shoulder and still made it to Burford. Man you are made of better stuff than me.

Who else got BOTH wheels off the ground on the hump back bridges  (I did, I did)

And cheers to Steve H for the company on the ride back. Now you can keep up I guess we wll have officially stop calling you "Slow Steve"

See you next year everybody

.

Red ones 05-06-05 07:37 PM

Home at 6pm - 320 miles in all

Great day!! (and tea with Rictus!!!)

wheelnut 05-06-05 07:38 PM

Yep, second all the above comments, :P

I never saw Jonboy to have it out with him about truck drivers :D

Good day had by me and thats what counts, 320 miles from home to the pub.

Keith SV was panicking about the rain, there wasnt any, till I got home and stopped off for a well deserved 4 pints of Marstons Pedigree.

Sid Squid owes me a pint of Babycham :P after showing him my squared off Z6, thats what happens to Metzelers when you ride like a wuss :D

Thanks to everyone :D Thanks to those I have met before, thanks to all those who I didnt speak to,

Scotland anyone? well next year then

Viney 05-06-05 07:42 PM

Ok the serious post.

Thanks to the organisers. Jelster and Baldyman. Thanks to Big Ape who made a fantastic camp(not in a gay way, although that hair  ) host.
Thanks to Raf, Squid, JonBoy and Si again for junction marking, and all the other junction markers as well (see it does work :D)

And finaly to everyone that made the effort to turn up on the ride. Its all about you lot, and its what you make it. It all went off without incident which for a 50+ rideout that isnt officaily organised, is very good.

Big up to Irl-Daz for make the journey over form Ireland, and for all those that traveled a distance to get there.

Some awards

Comedy tent award goes to JonBoy
Comedy hair award goes to BigApe
Insaine/dedicated award goes to Rictus (im still trying to work out which)

Many thanks to the organisers! The fact that even I didn't get lost
shows how well things were managed.

Glad you got back okay. I tried to find an easier way out of Evesham but still ended back on the M5. I lost Daryl and Nic as well, the closer I got to home the faster I rode. I was desperate to get off the bike and get the blood back into my bum.

Another thanks from me to Jelster, Baldyman, Sid Squid and everyone else who helped to put this together. I really appreciate the effort you guys put into this.

John

Nagai 05-06-05 08:15 PM

Cheers to everyone who turned up today, and thanks for making (another) ex SV owner feel welcome! :D

A great days riding, great weather (sun shone all the way back to Liverpool), and well organised. Thanks especially to all of the corner markers! They managed to keep us all together despite the best attempts by car drivers and horses! One question though: Where were you when I really needed you? :?:

Same again next year?

Ps Thanks to the people with ti Akrapovic systems for reminding me how great my Sv sounded. Makes me wish I had have kept it! The sound today was incredible! Nowt sounds better than a V twin! Apart from a Benelli Tornado with an Arrow race sytem on it. :P

shutdown 05-06-05 08:16 PM

as it's the first time I've ridden in a big group I was really worried about it all. It turned out to be really good fun, well managed and a good pace.

Hope I rode correctly for the ones around me :D :D

Thanks to mysteryjimbo and the others for the ride home, would have been a boring ride home otherwise.

Thanks to all the guys who organised this :notworthy: .......and one more.

Thanks to Thor the thunder god for keeping those clouds under control for us all day.

couldda done with a bit more socialising time, but i'm sure half the people i didnt get to say hi to were probably avoiding me anyway.

SteveH 05-06-05 08:39 PM

Yep have to agree with what has already been said  I did enjoy today very much (some of those roads have to be given a second look)
Thank you Mr Jelly thats a compliment coming from you

Some things I found funny today

1) how many waved to the little kid sitting on the wall waving to everyone go by with his dad
2) The old man counting all the bikes go by with his wife ( should have stopped and asked)
3) The complete prat who reversed out of his drive (which was slopped) onto the main road and could not see anything because of the 10ft high hedge in his garden

And to mark    only you only you

Quiff Wichard 05-06-05 08:39 PM

what more can be said
home at 8pm- been in the bath for an hour!!!

was awesome! what a turn out..

ta to ceri for helping me put up my tent.
lee for making me laff in the pub with his gay antics!!

and sid squid for reminding me of my wife all night with his snoring from the next tent ...!!

Cheers to Rich and Anne for the company to the mfourty something or other before they turned off and left me for a nice 100 mile an hour ride home from there on in ...!!

I think it is great how many turned up, unbelievable really and a credit to all involved but espesh the organisers....

Oh it must be said big ape and sid dropped everything and ranoff in search near the river when we thght we had a non return from the pub the night before!! (no names) empty tent at 8am and no sign!! - mention that he wandered home early across the field nar the river alone !! at midnight and PANIC!! - however - the subject in question was in the shower!! and unaware of the turmoil....and Mrs APE solved it CSI style by detecting fresh puke all over his tent so he musta got home OK !!!!!

where are we posting pics???>> on the pic forum!??

and I am having a name change - due to a comment in th red Lion I am from this day known as Quiff Richard !!!

Lee- have u any meat for anyone boarding school boy !???

great day, sore ass, great day, aching wrists. great day- tent ets still strapped to back of bike in the garden!!!! knackered..

Well Oiled 05-06-05 08:48 PM

Have to say a big thanks to all involved in organising it. I'm tired but very happy after a great days' ride. Great roads and great folks.

Thanks also to the bunch from the East Midlands who I just met and were great company on the journey there and back.

even the timing was perfect. Dry all day, then started to chuck it down half an hour after I put the bike in the garage.

Stig 05-06-05 08:51 PM

I would like to thank everyone for the great ride. Some had doubts that the marker system would work with so many people on the ride, but it just goes to proove what a sensible bunch of people we are as, apart from one small glitch, it worked perfectly.

I tried to wash the red out of my hair with no success. Also can't dye it back to normal until I get back from work tomorrow, the boss is gonna freak

Thanks again to everyone. It was cool

Carsick 05-06-05 09:15 PM

I have to add my thanks as well.
Those people involved in organising, giving information or just generally keeping us together, I say a big thank you and if you remind me next time we're in a pub I will buy you all a pint (I'm counting on you all not doing it at the same time  )
I know some of the people organising could have had more fun if they'd just been one of the crowd, but as we all know, somebody had to do it.

As for those humpback bridges, I got decent air under the tyres and under my **** the first time I went over on the Saturday (was overtaking a car at the time and might well have been going a bit quick) the second time Ceri and I both backed off from the group so we could have a good run at it with some power and bloody hell that was fun, but very scary. I kept the front wheel off the ground for all of about 20 feet after the back landed.

Possibly that kind of pint, yes.
Or maybe one of the several that I consumed that night and was still up at 7am the next morning; admittedly not feeling that great, though.
