Re: Pointy no spark

Thanks for everybodys input and help, its a bit like buying a kitchen, the more you look at it the more options there are. I am going to get the dealer to have a look at it, I used them before with a GSF650 and they were sensible.
I will update this thread with the fix to broaden the general knowldge and hopefullly help somebody else in the future.

youre probably right but I cant understand what Stilo has found different this time when starting the bike as the red light must have come on every time the ignition has been turned on since owning the bike and then gone out when cranking - whats different this time to indicate an FI problem or is it just because it didnt start?

ok Stilo we crossed. Well if theres no other indications then the problem doesnt match anything in the manual so Im afraid its got to be the dealer.....

When I turn the ignition on the FI light is only on for a few seconds on the left of the dash as you look at it, it goes off before I hit the starter button. The dash remains the same without the FI light befor and after I have hit the starter button

well the plot thickens then cos when I turn my ignition on the red light illuminates and stays on until I get oil pressure during cranking/firing. Once running it will only come back on for oil pressure failure, overheating or an FI problem (along with the other 'FI' letters)

Re: Pointy no spark

The dealer cant get me in for a couple of weeks so here's a recap to see if there any more thoughts:
No start: pulled the plugs,no spark on either of them, tried 2 sets of plugs, just the same.
The dash lights up correctly, FI comes on when I turn on the ignition then goes out after a couple of seconds.
Put it in "dealer mode" and turned it over,no codes show up which says that the injection system is OK and all of the safety systems, side stand switch, tip over etc are OK?
Checked the wires in the starter switch, tried another starter switch.
Pulled apart & checked all of the connections on the throttle bodies
Tried another ECU
Disconnected the fuel line and fuel is coming through.
So all of this says to me, the fuel and injection system is ok but nothing is getting to or out of the coils?
I have a multimeter but I am not up to speed with checking circuits etc, how, idiots guide please, do I check the current getting into & out of the coils, what else can I check?
Thanks

Ive got power to both of the coils but I am struggling to find the orange wire with red stripe. I have an orange wire with a green band around it & looking at the wiring diagram thats the only orange wire I can find, could it be this?
