Catherine Wheel Final Whos Coming and "Other Bits" Thread - PLEASE READ IF YOUR COMING :-)
Hello all
Echoing what has already been said this event is turning into a much bigger event that expected. Whilst this is great it means a little more admin in some respects. We all hate to go “dad” when were all adults but I would rather drag up some “ground rules” so we all know what to expect from one another, and it should make for a pleasant day. Meeting Point... Ripon McDonalds from 10am to depart 10.45am it is here... http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...num=1&ct=image Please note... below This is a private ride out and carries no event insurance; you are responsible for own recovery in the event of a break down. A polite request that vehicles are road legal and in good working order, remember noise attracts attention. Please be polite and courteous to each other and other road users as far as is reasonably possible. Please turn up with a full tank of fuel to avoid the obvious "Doh" moments. Jamaxx will be playing Tail end Charlie (TEC) he will make sure no one gets left behind, I will bring my fluorescent to and will be at the front, breaking off to mark significant turnings, and hopefully I can rope someone else into this also. Most of the bikes in our group will be V twins and as such the brakes are used less, keep your eye on the gap and watch for approaching too quickly to the behind (oh err) Please do not offset from one another on the open roads as it can put you in the wrong position for corners etc, but do bunch up though town if you can to reduce road space. Speed and pace… Go at your own speed, if you want to over take please do, but safely and legally, double white lines are there for a reason. Police.. If one of us gets tugged move on, don’t stop too as it could cause problems, the TEC will pick up on this and make sure the “guilty person” doesn’t get left behind. If you decide to leave the group at any time, feel free we wont hold a grudge at all. Other road users… if the weather is good there will be lots of us out, just use common sense in terms of letting them past if they want to. And as per Paul the 6th… OH AND FOR ANYONE WHO'S GOT A TINTED VISOR: don't make the same mistake as I did in january and forget to bring the clear one with you - I assumed we'd be home in time before the light dropped. We were still about an hour away from getting anywhere back to west yorkshire when it started getting dark = me seperated from everyone else on the north side of leeds (where I have sod all knowledge of the roads) and a tinted visor to add to the fun. I'll be bringing my mini tool so if you don't have a quick release snap on visor type thingy & require a screwdriver, give me a shout For a bit of peace of mind I am a first aider, quite recently certified as it were and will bring along an emergency FA kit….but I am sure we wont need it. I think that’s it, just to say should be a great day, it’s a long ride in terms of hours, so do have a brew and a pee at the brew and pee stops and keep your energy up. I'm a first aider too. Melody(if shes coming) is a midwife and has had to play nurse on a couple of occasions on a rideout, but we don't want anyone to use our skilz do we;-)

Can I just add, for people not in the know, there is a petrol station at the meet up point. NO EXCUSES :D
