Curvy SV650 and the ULEZ

Anyone managed to find how to get their NOx figures for a curvy?

I called Suzuki UK and a very helpful lady said that I'd be wasting my money on a CoC as the NOx levels are not on it - was before emissions were an issue so no official figures are recorded, apparently

Not sure how else to get proof of emission without (expensive?) independant testing and even then I don't know if TfL will accept the findings if it's not from an official manufacturer?

Any one delved deeper?

I just put my curvy into the vehicle checker and it says it would be charged. As you say, only official figures would count as they're by approved test methods etc. - the MoT test on cars is just a spot check that it basically works (much like the rest of the MoT). Bikes have to comply with Euro3 which came out in 2004. I'm afraid you appear to be snookered, as far as I can make out.

Yep I’ve seen all that, thanks

The issue is that our old curvys don’t have the NOx levels on the V5C becuase they weren’t tested back then and it seems that Suzuki themselves don’t have any official figures either.

So... the question is how to have them measured ‘officially’ so that TfL will accept them... if that’s even possible.

I’m guessing not.

This whole scheme is ill-thought out. My big ol’ 1150GS is exempt, as I can show the CoC stating the NOx levels are only 0.03, compared to the limit that TfL are measuring against of 0.15

I would therefore assume that my little 650 will also be well under the 0.15 limit, but I can’t prove it.

Hence my post.

Just a thought. Will it be worth getting the figures from your MOT Station and or contacting the DVLA and see if they can be added to a replacement V5?

Just asked my local MOT tester (who's also my mechanic) and he says he can't test for it.

Balls.

He's equally flummoxed by the stupidity of it all!

Hmmm.

Try a local Council MOT station and see what they say,

The point of the Euro standards is a "real world" test (flawed but nevertheless the intention is there). A spot check like at the MoT station wouldn't tell you anything about the performance really. They do check it for cars but either the cat is present and working it's not - the acceptability of its performance is really determined in design, before it reaches the market.
