suzuki sv650 K1 carb
Hi
So I sorted my high tickover...was a stuck front choke plunger.....so while the carbs are off I have cleaned the jets etc, which seem ok...float bowls were clean.....I did unscrew the little black box that is on the right side of the rear carb..is this the TPS?...if so is it a case of just screwing back into place ,no set up required?...or is that just the Fi models........and the mixture screw is 21/2 turns out?......thank you |
Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
Yes that's the TPS, it does need resetting - either put it back where it was (look for marks to indicate this) or set it properly as per the manual. I did and it made bog all difference TBH. Yep idle screw is 2.5 turns out from LIGHTLY seated.

Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
I don't think it's a TPS Johhny.I thinks it's a carb heater?
http://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74632 http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=55459 Well, here it is - the long awaited pictorial of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment . Q: What does it do?? A: Basically, Fuel injected Suzukis have a sensor that senses what revs the engine is at and then tells the fuel injection and engine management systems to alter (basically to start squirting more fuel into the cylinders). MOST bikes are set wrongly and this causes the bike to be jerky at slow speeds (due to the fact that there's not enough fuel getting into the engine & then all of a sudden the fuel starts pumping in faster but by then it's a bit late!! This adjustment rectifies the problem! |
Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
Thanks guys...I do keep getting conflicting views though....some say it is TPS and some say its not?...

Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
yes the curvy has a TPS. its to control the 2nd air valve (PAIR) opening/closing.

Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
IIR its a matter of checking the voltage with a DMM when the throttle is turned then adjusting the angle of the sensor just like doing the pointy, but unlike the pointy there is no visual guide on the clocks.

Re: suzuki sv650 K1 carb
The carb heaters are in the float bowls. It's the TPS, I thought it was linked to the ignitor box?
