Cheapest Comfy Seat Mod?

Am planning to do a mass amount of mileage in the summer and can't afford a gel seat, does anyone know the cheapest solution to getting a sore bum?

I've already heard about wearing padded shorts under my leathers, any other solutions?
Gel pads on eBay are about £40 ish but don't want to spend that much ( alright, yes, I'm a cheapskate! )

Bike is SK3 SV650s

Serious pie eating to give you some added 'natural cushioning' :D
Seriously though, if you can stretch to a genuine Suzuki gel seat (used, around £80) you won't regret it. They do come up from time to time on eBay.

After how long do you get saddle sore? I find the SV seat is good for a couple of hours sitting on the motorway. On twisty roads it is good for a lot longer as you're never sat in the same place for very long.

Same as you, after a couple hours, but I'll be on the road for more than that a day. Enough mileage to warrant a comfier solution.

How many miles are you doing over what time period? I've ridden to Germany (400 miles) in a day comfortably. Stopping every couple of hours gives you a chance to rest & stretch your legs.

2000 - 3000 miles in 10 - 12 days maybe
as I said, I know my body and my comfort zones and its enough to warrant a comfier solution

Remove cover, modify seat by adding material, removing material or even sticking a cheap push bike gel pad in. Whatever fits you. Staple cover back on. Revel in new found comfort.

Cycling shorts under your kit will help, or if you get really lucky (and I warn you, you'll need to be cos you'll be competing with me for one!), you might pick up a second-hand AirHawk for that kind of money...

+1 on the AirHawk. I've never used it before but I've read good things about it and I intend to buy one in a week or so.

My commute to work takes between 85 - 95 minutes and I get sore after about 40 minutes.

I'm hoping it would make it more enjoyable when I go touring later in the year.
