Attatching Loose Rotor Magnets
 

Hi all I've searched the forum but with minimal success hopefully someone can help me out.

I was in the process of doing the 4° timing mod on my curvy when I discovered, to my dismay, a loose rotor magnet (came off with the vibration from my impact driver!) The way I see it I have 4 options:

1.Try and stick it back on ( clean, key then 2 part epoxy)

2. Remove the other 2 opposing magnets to retain balance and lose a bit of rotating mass (any one got experience of how this will affect charging, I'm running LEDs all round)

3. Buy a used one off eBay for £40-50

4. In an ideal world I'd send it off to Millemille for lightening and rebalancing but I'm really looking for the most cost effective option!

So apart from the obvious option 4. what would you recommend!

Option 1 would seem your best option, but option 4 is worthwhile, plus you can ask Millemille, as he offers the option of reducing the number of magnets, but I presume that's for a race set up.

I kept the standard number of magnets when he did my flywheel

After a bit of faff getting the woodruff key to locate properly and having to stick another magnet back on she's back together and running. Got her up to temp on a 30 mile shakedown. You can hear a very subtle vibe at 6000rpm (although that could be a combination of the new flyscreen and me being paranoid!) I'm fairly confident it shouldn't cause that much trouble. As for the difference.... not sure it was worth the hassle! The main thing I think I noticed was a slight reduction in engine braking which is nice when bashing down the box on corner entry. Extra torque... not so sure but its no worse than it was!

I didn't bother installing my 4 deg woodruff key, after reading that it made bugger all difference

Waiting to see if the lightened flywheel does change things

I was tempted by the flywheel lightening and woodruff key but think I'd be better of spending it on fuel and actually riding the thing
