Silverstone Int Friday 9th August

Following a less than successful outing I'm going to try my hand again, anyone else up for it? I got a couple of decent sessions in last time, but that was all. Very fast track!

Booked! Might be a bit moist in the morning but should clear up later. Atleast that's the basis on which I've spent my money!

Is that the Suzuki / Kevin Ash day?

No that's in Sept, 4th I think, see the Silverstone website. They are organising track days themselves, these do appear on trackdays.co.uk but also their own site. I tell you what, they can teach the other companies a thing or two, the level of organisation is near-perfect, the coffee is free, the price includes a tenner of canteen vouchers, and with the confirmation email comes the day's schedule. The atmosphere was good, signing on took seconds, really more like Superbike School than a track day in those terms. And I had a tour of their fancy new building, saw race control etc.

Pretty sure tomorrow is the Kevin Ash thing. Or, at least, his old twitter account is banding on about it enough.

Yep some guy from MCN was there, but totally upstaged by Troy Actual Corser doing some celebrity coaching in the expensive group. I fanboyed him for a pic, bit bad really, I was in and out like the SAS. Anyway rain cleared, day went well, munched and was munched as you would expect. Not a massively technical track but good fun and very fast. Day ran to the minute all the way (the schedule is posted in the garages, it's not just a few random timings then see what happens), half the time didn't need to wait in the pitlane, we rode straight out, got 6x20min sessions and one other was 25, so plenty of time and more than the advertised 7x15 minimum. Plenty of people burned me up on the straights but some were just to slow in the bends to get away, so the SV isn't totally dwarfed by the track.
