Wouldn't recommend posting it on a public forum. Just give us a copy on paper when we get there.

Why?

I take it the question marks are for Lance when he gets lost.

Re: AR14: The Route

There is no harm in putting the route up.
If your thinking police, it's a known consistent and very little mounted

Remember GPS and Lance don't play well together. Even when all he has to do is follow the leader whos waiting for him he still looses them :-)

Isn't Lance taking his famed ball of string this year?

I heard he was filling a top box with breadcrumbs and putting a hole in the bottom of it.

Spazznav is not being used! We did have a right laugh last time it happened on the Newcastleton to Hawick road

Don't worry I'll be at the front for Mallaig. No getting lost during the GM. I leave that for the test run. But hey thats what a test run is for...

Re: AR14: The Route

for those that are thinking of coming along the the AR but unsure of the rideout then let me put your mind at ease.

the rideout will be just that and has been designed so riders of all abilities will be able to ride it. there will be some technical sections but they will be fun. a few stretches of single track but it's all good.

the riding pace will be a relaxed one with safety a main priority. i hate to say this but if your looking for a race or to wave willies then i suggest you look elsewhere.

the actual route has been designed in a way that will make it very unlikely you will get lost.

the route is finalised and just the final polishing will be done within the next few weeks once the concerned parties have had a get together.

Re: AR14: The Route

just a thought.
On the day hand, when you do the handout with the contact phone numbers. How about including the post codes and address of the snack /petrol stops .
Then if anyone does get lost there's a backup plan.

Bibio 25-05-14 11:37 AM

Re: AR14: The Route

thanks NTECUK i'll add that in.

Littlepeahead 25-05-14 11:42 AM

Re: AR14: The Route

I'm sure you're already doing this but I asked those coming alone to PM me an ICE contact and to let me know if they had any severe allergies or medical conditions just in case anything happened on the ride or even at the site. The info was kept confidential and destroyed afterwards. But it was useful to know that person X was highly allergic to bee stings but had an epipen for example.

I'm usually TEC as I'm a first aider. And as long as there's no blood, vomit, poo or snot I'm fine!

Bibio 25-05-14 12:17 PM

Re: AR14: The Route

our TEC is a nurse so i'm sure he will be fine if anything happens.

Re: AR14: The Route

Hmm this tread reminds me I better ask the TEC for the GM rideout if they're happy doing it... when they agree we'll have a chauffeur driven nurse as TEC.

On a different note I've seen the provisional route for the AR. you guys will love it. Some of the roads in that area are blinding. I have the feeling that this AR will be a goodie, shame I won't be about to enjoy it. Or get stressed about leading the rideout ;-)

AR14: The Route

K to L then turn around and back to M? That seems a touch silly...

The roads look really nice and wiggley though.

if i was to plan another way from L to N then a fair few would end up in A&E including myself, so better being safe than sorry :-)

besides the route will be fun, if not then you can come and see me after the rideout and i'll take you for some real fun ;)

Might take you up on that even though I'll likely have fun on the route, although I need to get my tank of a bike round it!
