AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

The aim of the rideout is to have a pleasant day out with friends, new and old. The rideout will begin at 10am give or take from the Heritage Centre car park about 150yds to your Right from the campsite. http://goo.gl/maps/w429e

You will be handed the rideout route and directions the day/night before or the morning of the ride. Please read them and keep them with you.

The rideout will be conducted in groups. Each group will have a Leader (orange bib), TEC (yellow bib) and a final TEC (blue bib) at the very end of all the groups.

There will be no marshals waiting at junctions instead there will be direction signs in the form of orange A4 laminated paper with AR and an arrow indicating the direction to turn placed on the most appropriate lamppost or road sign just before the required junction so keep an eye out for them.

It's advisable to keep your group leader or the person in front of you in sight just encase one of the locals takes the sign down before we get there. (Bibio, one of the group leaders is famous for getting lost but don't worry he always gets back on track again, just think of it as a magical mystery tour)

The ride pace will be a moderate to slow one and not a race or showboating contest. If you want to go faster than your group leader then you are on your own.

Your riding in a group of friends so use your indicators to signal the person behind that we are turning. Keep a check in your mirrors for the rider behind you and do not let too much of a distance get between the person behind and the person in front or we are all going to get lost. If you can't see them then they can't see you.

At points in the ride the group leader will slow the group down for up coming junctions so try to bunch up as much as possible to help your group leader make your day as hassle free as possible.

If you want to stop to take pictures during the rideout then please wait till the next group comes along and tag onto the end, if your in the last group then please wait till TEC (blue bib) comes along and tag onto the back and follow him. If your confident that you know where you are going then you can just please yourself.

Make sure your bike is roadworthy and it's advisable to have breakdown cover, other members are not there to fix your bike.

Make sure you have a full tank of petrol BEFORE the ride starts. Those that cant make 130 miles out of a tank of petrol can you please speak to one of the group leaders (orange bib) before the ride starts.

Please be considerate to other road users and group members when out on the ride. Some of the roads we will be taking are very popular roads for bikers so keep a good check on your mirrors for other bikers possibly wanting to pass and let them pass safely.

***if you would like a copy of the route for your spaznav before the AR then please PM littleoldman2 and he will do his best to help***

Thank you

The RSV would struggle to get 100 miles.
Thankfully the daytona is better behaved

''Those that cant make 130 miles out of a tank of petrol can you please speak to one of the group leaders (orange bib) before the ride starts.''

there will be only one group stopping for petrol for those who are unable to get round the route with one tank of fuel. the stop we plan to use will be at Longtown at around 80 miles on route. this is why you MUST tell us on the day so we can designate which group you will be in. if you dont tell us and you need fuel on route then your on your own. apart from that each group WILL be riding around the same pace and on the day you can choose what ever group you can fit into.

the group leaders will be:

It'll be reet, 140ish to a tank here unless being silly (in which case it's down to under 100... (worst MPG of 27, best was 63)

So - let's get this right - Bib is actually a minion like being, and he has developed a way of cloning himself in different colours ??? :smt043

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

yes my father was a chameleon so it's very easy for me :-)

if people are struggling then they can splash and dash at Kielder (just dont look at the prices) ooohh which brings me to a point, the station at Kielder is unmanned and card only.

ermmm urine stops, well any convenient tree along the way will be just fine but the only real loo will be at Hartside cafe. dont worry though as i'm sure that you will have the urine extracted from you at each stop :-)

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

Was looking at. Hartside as a half way pis point
Was that petrol station the one on Google maps that had "Bike Hire",we're the prices for gas should be?

That's fine if you are a man or a dog! What about the ladies? Glad I've had to make other plans as I have a bladder the size of a thimble and a rideout without at least 3 coffee stops, and therefore 3 wee stops and at least 1 ice cream stop is simply not on you know! :D

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

the image date on gmaps for me is 2011 and it's still the old pumps, there are new pumps so i'm assuming it's still open. i phoned the town shop but cant get a hold of them.

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

You're lucky you haven't the stroppy Italian to tend to for its petrol needs.

I won't be doing the actual rideout.......but I MIGHT jump out of a hedge pointing a camera...possibly...maybe .

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

i know the frustration of having to stop a lot for weewee's due to the tablets i'm on but if we were to stop every 20 miles people would not be happy. the AR14 is set in 'no man's land' where conveniences are few and far between its not like shandy drinking country where people are used to being pampered. there is not one Mcdonalds on the entire route.. lol

the ride is that remote that there is only one village in an entire 32mile stretch of road.

there is a pub where we are stopping at Newcastleton and i'm sure they will oblige if we are buy some beverages.

but since your not gracing us with your presence then it wont matter.

Re: AR 2014 Rideout, Attendees please read.

There's a pump just half way before the cafe. If the juice hungry lot all stick to one group a one stop should be enough. Do you get a good mobile phone signal round the route

dont worry i'm sure that we wont leave anyone stranded. if anyone cant make 80-100 miles out of a tank of petrol then there is something seriously wrong with their bike, or they have come to the AR on an old RG500 with a stage 3 stan stephens.

Litre VTwina are particularly thirsty when they're having fun. Nothing seriously wrong, just thirsty.
I got 87 miles once, and said my prayers over Tan Hill, sailing in on fumes to the petrol station over the other side!
