For the track day innexperienced (like me), this thread someone pointed me to may be useful http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=127659

And I'd say it's a good idea to thoroughly check the bike over/service it pre trackday.

Have you ridden the SV derestricted yet? I find it is surprisingly easier due to having more revs to play with and therefore longer gears, which is especially helpful on track.

I still got left for dead on the straights :(, a lot of inline 4's on the say I went on! Absolutely thrashed it through the rev range.

Yea that's expected, just saying it's nice to have 4k more revs before a gear change. 33bhp is constant short shifting!

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November

I always get beaten in a straight line by straight line warriors on Litre sports bikes. :smt090

Easilly faster on a lap just couldn't get passed as every time they came back past on the straights.

I'm keeping an eye on the weather but it looks like I might be there on the 28th, Allbeit on a ZXR400 not an SV! I'll probably have the missus with me taking photo's aswell so I might be able to get her to take some shots of the lot of ya for free.

Edit: Just to let you guys know on all the trackdays I've done at mallory I've never seen sound checking, Only time I've ever been checked is at a race meeting.

you have any problems being restrticted. it teaches you to be better in the corners and as i have now dsicovered even without the restrictors you don't get that much more on the straights. you still get easily passed by ss600's and bigger bikes etc. you just learn to outbreak people and have higher corner speed. just start slow and build up slowly, you will naturally pass people if your going quicker than them, don't go out looking for it!

i'm not particularly good no. i just have some confidence in the corners to carry some corner speed because i done a few track days and had some instruction (go and talk to the instructors after you've had a couple of sessions. they will come out with you for FREE!! and usually it'll be one on one tuition. that's what got really got me going at 2nd TD at silverstone GP and was getting me knee down from that session onwards. it gave me that much confidence).

that's what it's all about, gives you so much satisfaction when you go past them in the corners.
