just got gem a android ipad like thing what apps should we put on

would be good if she could watch tv/films on it
and owt else you cant live without or find really useful

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Apollo running Android 2.1 (not a bad little phone actually and half the price of a Galaxy S). I've got Angry Birds (just because you have to have at least one game!), Google Maps, Google Navigator, Google Sky Map (keeps little people happy when they want to know where Orion is tonight), Opera Mini as a web browser, Barcode Reader, IMDb (to stop all "who was in...?" arguments before they start), Sense Analogue Clock, Circle Launcher Light (to keep the screen a bit clearer), a dictionary and gStrings (to tune my guitar). Oh, and Advanced Task Killer.

That lot keeps me happy anyway, but then I mostly use it as a phone!

Movies im not sure about. You can DL them however you do that or rip them off of DVD and drop them onto the device.

Apps I use;

Angry birds (all 3 versions)
google earth
maps & navigation
tune in radio
Robo defence (very decent game)
movies (tells you wahts on and all that)
shazam, (incase you hear something and want to know what it is)

Thats about it. Mostly I use the browser for goin on the net. :)

Which one you got?

Try https://market.android.com/apps To view the market a bit easier, says which versin you need to be on for each app, of if you are on the market on your device it should only show those which will work work with your Android version

Try:

Flash Payer - I'm on 2.2 so not sure if you can get this, but you can play flash games on your phones for when you are busy at work :p
BBC iPlayer - No, it's not a hidden cam in our BBC's bedroom but you can catch up on stuff from BBC channels
Glow Hockey - I bet this would be fantastic on a tablet
Worms - Relive your teenage years

Google Sky Map - Good for stars. Not as good as the Iphone app of similar being
IMDB - Again, handy for cheating in pub quizzes and those ' What was he in' moments
Jewels - Game
Opera Mini - Browser. Slightly faster than the internal browser
Paper Toss - Game
Shop Savvy - Scan bar code, then it wanders off to find it cheaper elsewhere (works really well)
Translate - Google Translator. Worked with a Polish friend swearing at me :lol:
Tube - Tube map and status update
Twitter - Erm..


Paid apps
Camcard - Takes a picture of a business card then creates a contact form the data. Scary how accurate it is
ISyncR - Syncs music and playlists with I tunes
Tapatalk Pro - Essential for Forum useage
Quick Office - Allows the viewing of MSOffice docs
Office Suite Pro - As above but allows basic adtiting as well
PDF reader - Erm...

Not a list of what you must have, but what i have got. Not all apps are saveable to SD card and the Desire hasnt really got a huge memory for apps, so limited.
