It's madness that legally you need to install double windows nowadays, apparently triplex if it's a new build!

I live in a rented house with single glazing, does this mean they have to upgrade to double glazing??

Noise and thermal comfort for the inhabitants. It's the governments way to make sure you are not getting screwed by the cost-cutting guy who builds the house (who passes the cost on to you, of course) and that you actually have a decent place to live on. Eventually.
