Leathers v Hi-Art

Hi,

I've heard you can only go on a track day with leathers - I have a quick question - is this true? I've paid a lot of money for Hi-ART gear, which technially is stronger on paper. I'm slightly peeved that I'm going to have to shell out a lot of money for leathers just to use on a track day.

Although...that said I can see a benefit if I fall off, at least I won't have ruined my road gear!

Thoughts, .org?

Alex.

Ebay is your friend. Can get cheap second hand leathers on there which will surfice for a track day.

Ask the track(s) in question what their policy is, they might let you on as long as it zips together???

Sounds like a plan, Stan.

If anybody is 6' 1" and selling leathers, preferably with some sort of armour, let me know!

Yeah mine zips together.

Having had a bit of a moan, it does make sense to have separate kit...

The circuits in the UK have to comply to the ACU standards (I think) even for track days.
The only TD's that will consider textiles are the RAF airfields and that is up to the club organising

Well it's good to know the reason. ACU should consider changing their standards (pointless saying this unless anybody here works for them!)

My textiles drag for 11 seconds compared to 3 seconds for normal leathers.

I'm 6' 1'' and have a set of all-in-one leathers you could buy - but I'm guessing that postage to darn sarf might be more trouble than it's worth?

Gota pic? Or a link to the originals online?

I'm still saving at the moment - but postage shouldn't be a problem. Could always do a road trip if it is. Having said that, Leeds is a loooong way - just googled it! Would cost about £30 in petrol. Postage would probably be about £15?
