HELP! it wont start

My beloved SV650 will not start when hot. i pull in the clutch and push the engine start button. absolutely nothing happens. the starter motor doesn't even turn over, the lights don't dim and theres no noise from anywhere on the bike. then after leaving the bike for hours sitting in either my drive, a McDonald's, a biker pub or a lay-by. it will suddenly start working again. grrrr

i have tried the following.

1. the safety feature on the sv650 means that the clutch must be pulled in before the engine will start. so i took off the housing where the clutch line meets the engine and adjusted this to make sure the safety feature was disengaging properly. no success

2. the connector that goes into the starter motor for the power line that runs directly from the battery to the starter motor was a bit minty. so i got some contact cleaner and a wire brush and cleaned it thoroughly. to no avail

3. ive replaced the oil. (i was desperate)

please note: the bike does eventually start if i just sit on it and will it to work. the only thing i can think changes in that time is that the engine cools down

here are some questions

1. do sv650s's not start when the engine is too hot?

2. am i missing something really really simple which i will just kick myself for later on

3. why me

please post back with reams of solution's. GO SV BOFFINS

p.s: correct punctuation and spelling do not come easily to me :D

the "copper" tabs on it are very very weak.. and get crudded up..!

could be that- could be clutch adjustment req'd

could be yer kill switch( is Matt Sv around near u at all??)

do you have AA homestart?... or RAC or whatever?.. ring them and make sure you tell them its a bike.!! let them do the work..

if u dont- then pay £30 and join and then call them out the next day !..
