Anyone tried one on an SV?

They work by tricking the air temp sensor, but only at certain times in the rev / throttle position range apparently, so they don't just permanently add extra fuel and ruin economy. Most of the time the bike still runs as normal.


Still searching for something to smooth out the on/ off feel at low speeds. It's been a lot better since I did the TPS adjustment a while back, but there's still some jerkiness there on lower speed corners and slow moving at junctions etc.


I've read of good reports on some other bikes, apart from more modern ones that have learning engine management systems that constantly analyze running and adjust back to normal to compensate over time.

Balancing your throttle bodies as I explained in your other thread will also help smooth throttle response....

Have you asked whether anyone else has similar issues or have you tried riding another pointy?

...following this train of thought, has your bike got the Yamaha R6 twist grip mod? It quickens the throttle response at the expense of smooth transitions (I don't know how you can tell if it's been done though).

These are very popular on Triumphs apparently. Often see good reports of how well they work to smooth out snatchy response on earlier EFi twins.

When my carbs/throttle bodies were out you could tell at slow speeds/slight jerkiness/hesitation as well as the Vibrations at other revs.

I don't know if you can use the same ignition advancer Woodruff key on the pointies but that makes a big difference bottom end

Would that cause it to be more twitchy too when warmed up? If I've been out for an hour or two and then go into slower areas the slow handling and throttle is even more jerky. It's not too bad when I first set out.

I think it could yes because when starting off your fuel mixture is richer which is easier to fire evenly but when up to temperature its weaker and more difficult to keep consistant. Anyway best to balance the throttles first (this should be part of routine maintenance) before trying out any other more expensive measures....

well I still dont think you need anything special but if you want to blow money on a dealer with a plastic tube go ahead.....
