I'm missing something...
I am old enough to remember the Honda CB750/4 being introduced!
Here is a tribute that bike: https://www.rideapart.com/articles/3...b100r-tribute/ I have a few problems with it: 1) It's water cooled 2) It's not a 750cc 3) It looks nothing like a CB750 4) It doesn't have 4 exhausts In fact, other than wire wheels and the Honda nameplate, I see no resemblance to a CB750 whatsoever. Don't look too closely at the front wheel/brake caliper/disk it looks like an Escher drawing and makes your eyes go funny. |
Re: I'm missing something...
Looking at it, I'd say that the designer had been sniffing too many exhaust fumes, that's gross

Nope you're missing nowt.
When I look at it, it looks like all the other "transformer" type nakeds. |
Re: I'm missing something...
Agreed, looks nothing like an original CB750.

Re: I'm missing something...
It's just a naked UJM. Bears no resemblance to the original CB750.

Re: I'm missing something...
Truth is all these modern retro bikes are very different to the originals apart from a few stylistic nods. Probably just as well really. The original CB750 handled like a sponge and had crap brakes as did most bikes then.Engine was bang up to date though-----45 years ago!

Re: I'm missing something...
I think you are agreeing with me. That kwaker is a great bike but apart from the stylistic nods it has nothing in common with the 1970s z900. It has usd forks, monoshock rear, modern brakes, water cooling, modern 4-1 exhaust system and the frame is radically different. The 1970s z900 was a great engine surrounded by a dog of a bike in truth, hence the success of Rickman who built a stunning bike around that engine.

What is strange is that Honda had a better bike to use as a basis for a tribute, one that was already well down the retro path; the CB1100EX. They, themselves, even call it a Modern Classic. I wonder if the bike's picture I posted was a bored intern's Photoshop doodle. |
