Wurth chain lube
 

I read some of you talking about chains, lubes, sprockets etc. Well I wonder is any of you use Wurth chain lube? Do you know if it desolves in water? I do 10k miles in every weather each year. I use Wurth lube as it keeps my bike nice and clean, but was wondering it it needs reaplying after wet ride? It does not say anything on the tin as to wet weather use so I just pressumed it is OK to use in the wet. Am I right?

Wurth chain lube, at least, the one i used, dries on...dry. Its a very low friction polymer coating (sort of like teflon I think) which dosnt dissolve in water :) Its good stuff, but needs a healthy application and renewing a bit more than other (wet) lubricants

You cant use too much, do it as often as possible.

I gave up & fitted another scottoiler today... wurth is ok but I was applying it more frequently due to squeaky chain syndrome (typically do 8 miles commute each day & it seemed to be wearing washing off faster than it should). no more chain oiling grief this winter!

I don't like worth dry lube. Certainly didn't take very good care of my last chain and I put a fair bit on. I prefer normal lube because it seems to stay thicker on the chain. The dry stuff just seemed to disappear. Plus, with normal lube you can see/feel how much is on the chain

i've got some wurth dry lube, havent used it on my chain yet, needs doing tho!

Morning all.

I've been using & selling Wurth dry lube since it came out. I have found it to be excellent, especially as being so thin it penetrates the chain very effectively.
In fact it came out top for corrosion resistance in a Ride magazine on chain lubes some years ago.

There are however two problems with it. Namely, being dry you can't tell when it needs re applying.
Also you really have to shake the tin for at least a minute to mix the contents effectively, as it does seem to separate.

I usually stick the tin in my jeans pocket at least 10 minutes before lubing the chain, this warms the tin so it mixes more easily when shaken, & walking around with a big bulge in ones trousers does boost the ego somewhat!:D

I swear by it and do my chain every 3-400 miles,no nasty "Fling", nice clean backwheel. Current chain and sproket 30,000 miles. I also like the small size that fits under the seat which is handy for longer journeys.
I think the secret is keep the chain clean,shake the tin well and lube the chain while it is hot

I could tell when my chain squeaked like a gerbil on a rusty exercise wheel after about 2-300 miles.

I found loads of crud would build up round the sprockets, which doesn't happen with a scottoiler as it's always getting washed off. Lubing a chain is bad enough, having to clean all the old stuff off first is just too much aggro.

That's a bit like waiting for a big end to start knocking before checking your oil level!:D
You really have to :toss: the Wurth lube for it to be effective.
