Puncture repair.
 

Anyone used any of these puncture repair systems: GOOP - green stuff that goes in the tyre to prevent a punctures
ULTRA SEAL - stuff that goes in tyre to prevent punctures, or The puncture repair kits that come with everything you need to repair a puncture then re-inflate using the little gas canisters provided. ARE THEY ANY GOOD?:drink:

I always tend to Ultra seal my tyres and the little puncture repair kit sits under my set....

Managed to rescue a mate from Box hill once and another one while I was in Spain. The only down side is that you can make the mistake of making the hole too big and thus not be able to repair properly.... however if it means that your stuck in the middle of a Canyon with a flat.... its worth trying to plug rather than push the bike to the main road.

This is not really a euro topic but I have used the repair kits with the plugs and canisters - work a treat but it takes at least 3 canisters to inflate your back tyre to anywhere near riding pressure - and it is a TEMPORARY fix. You then need to get the tyre repaired properly by plugging from the inside.

Beware of getting a cold burn when you use the canisters - use some insulation between your fingers and the Co2 canisters which get very very cold.

The repair kit I bought was £20, which is a rip off for what it is. Subsequently I purchased a pack of 10 CO2 canisters of the net for £5.

I tried the green slime stuff but it didn't work and made a mess of the wheel-tyre fitters charged me extra due to the mess inside.

It's always a contentious topic this one.

The one main issue with using ultra-seal is that if you were to have a puncture, ultra-seal seals it almost instantly. Thus you would never know that you've actually had one.

Personally if my tyre gets damaged in any way, I'd want to know straight away. What would happen if the offending object found it's way into the tyre completely :?: How many times would the ultra-seal keep plugging the damage this offending item caused to the tyre :?:. What state could the tyre be in by the time the ultra-seal didn't work anymore :?:.

I have a tyre repair kit under the seat. If I get a puncture I'll repair it myself. Allowing me to inspect the tyre at the same time and then I'd decided if the tyre was safe for further use.
